Tom Bryson entertained with a miscelleanous shower on Wednesday afternoon of the past week, at her home on Cullasaja, complimentary to her sister, Mrs. Howard Wilkie, ,nee Miss Jessie Higdon, a recent bride. Approximately forty friends were present and the honoree was the recipient of many lovely and use ful gifts. Mrs. Bryson was assisted in en tertaining by her sisters, Mrs. Pearl Gorbin, of Otto, and Miss Ruth Higdon. The hostesses served delicious cakes and punch. Highlands Highlights EDITED BY MRS. T. C. HARBISON FUNDS RAISED FOR MUSEUM An exhibition square dance, box social and cake walk was held at Helen's Barn ' Tuesday evening, August 13. A portion of the pro ceeds was given to Highlands Mu seum. Large crowds have been at tending danoes at Helen's Barn during the past several weeks. Mrs. Frank Williams, who has been spending the summer at Dixie Hall, left last week for her home in Valley Ford, Wash. Miss Martha Somerville, of Jack sonville, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Hoben, of Atlanta; and Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Wheeler and family, of Augusta, are guests at Trimont Inn this week. J. H. Everette, Knoxville, spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Fleming. 512 SOUTH CAROLINIANS VISIT HIGHLANDS Five hundred and twelve tourists from Clemson. and other South Carolina towns were in Highlands for a few hours Saturday after noon. They came by way of Pick ens and Rosman in school buses and one large SO foot bus. Whil'. here they visited Upper Cullasaja Falls and the Van Hook Wayside Park. The tour was headed by South Carolina patrolmen on motorcycles. A. D. Bolton and two children, Biilie and Edith, of Commerce, Ga. ; Mr. and Mrs. W. W. S. Davis entertained at a reunion of their' entire family at their home here. Those present included the Rev. and Mrs. Warner P. Davis, their children, Helen, Joe, and Bil lie, of Paris, Ky. ; Mr. and Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Mitchell, with a party of friends who have been spending a two weeks' vaca tion at their summer cottage on Mirror Lake, returned to their home in East Point, Ga., last Fri day. Mis. A. 1). Bolton and her two jhiklren have moved into their summer cottage on Mirror Lake to spend the remainder of the sum mer. Mr. and Mrs. 0. F. Summer re cently rented the Ellen Rogers house on the Dillard road and are now living there. Mrs. H. D. Jessup has returned to Highlands after a week's visit to Washington, D. C. Miss Mary Elizabeth Potts, who has been training at St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Atlanta, is expected home this week for a three week's vacation with her family. Harry Hall, of Raleigh, is spend ing his vacation during August with relatives in Highlands. Mr. Raymond Fretwell is occupy ing Miss Rebecca Nail's house on Sunset road for the month of Aug ust. Mrs. Nash R. Broyles and two grandchildren, of Atlanta, are visit ing at the home of Mrs. Meta N. Hall. A daughter was born to Mr. and i Mrs. Carl Zoellner at their home j here on Sunday morning, August 11. ' Born to Mr. and Mrs. James Beck, a son, Sammie Ellard, on August 4. j The Rev. S. R. Crockett, of , Franklin, preached at the Presby terian church here Sunday morn ing in the absence of the Rev. C R. McCarty, who was indisposed Mrs, W. H.
