Jessup, minister of the church, did the work of redecorating. $20 RAISED BY GARDEN TOUR About $20 was realized from the garden tour given last Saturday afternoon under the auspices of the Presbyterian church here. The money is to be used to help pay for new roofing for the church. BOX SUPPER A box supper was given at the Hall House on Thursday night, August 22, for the benefit of the Christian Endeavor of the Pres byterian church. Minstrel singing was among the enjoyable features of the program. LIBRARY BENEFIT SHOW A percentage of the receipts Wednesday night at the Highlands school theatre for the picture, "The Scarlet Pimpernel," was given to the Hudson Library. Hudson Li brary is supported by benefits of this character, donations and mem bership dues. RAINS HEAVY The persistent rainfall in this section for the last week has rais ed the level of streams and lakes several inches. Upper Cullasaja Falls are fuller than for several years. An enormous amount of water is flowing over the dam of Lake Sequoiyah. The rain, which had been steady for days, seemed to have let up Wednesday morning. Dr. Bascom Anthony of the South Georgia Conference, Metho dist Church, South, who is spend ing the summer at Highlands Inn, preached at the Methodist church here Sunday night, August 18. Mac Pierson is very ill with pneumonia at his home here. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ricfcer, of Hartwell, Ga., were visiting their daughter, Mrs. J. M. Hall, last week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Gillespie Sadler, who werd at the Hoke cottage here for several weeks, left for their home in Atlanta last Thurs day. Miss Mary Elizabeth Potts, stu dent nurse at St. Joseph's Infirm ary in Atlanta, arrived at her home here Friday night for a three weeks' vacation. Mrs. Owen B. Smith, of Spar tanburg, S. C, is at her summer home here. Mrs. F. R. Thompson, of An derson, S. C, was recently visiting in Highlands, Mrs. Glenn Ryman, of Atlanta, is spending the month of August at Scott Hudson's cottage on High lands Estates. Mr. and Mrs. Morton Hodgson are spending their vacation at Mrs. C. A. Sisson's cottage on Cullasaja Drive. Linton Young, of Atlanta, has been in Highlands for the past several " days.
