John Cunningham, who has been seriously ill with pneumonia, .at his home on Franklin Route 3, was reported to be slightly improved Monday. Hugh Johnston returnen to Christ School, at Arden, Monday, after spending three weeks with his mother, Mrs. T. J. Pohnston, at her home on Harrison Avenue. A. B. Slagle, Harley R. Cabe, George B. Patton and Frank Ray attended the funeral of Doyle D. Alley in Waynesville Monday after noon. Mrs. G. L. Houk and Miss Mary Willis spent the latter part of the past week in Asheville, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Willis Fox and Mrs Rebecca Patton. Dan Wilkie, who is in the army, stationed at Fort Bragg, has been here for a visit with his mother, Mrs. W. G. Wilkie. He left Friday for a short visit with his sister in Asheville. George W.
