Tommy, of near Los Angles, Calif., arrived last week for a visit with Mr. Bradley’s sist er, Mrs. Harley R. Breedlove, and other relatives at Oak Grove. TO GIVE SHOWER FOR LUNCH ROOM HIGHLANDS, Dec. 9.—A shower for the benefit of the Highlands school lunch room will be given at 3:45 o’clock Tuesday afternoon by the Highlands Parent-Teacher as sociation in the school auditorium. A short program of Christmas carols will be presented. Those attending are requested to bring articles suitable for use in the lunch room, such .as sovp bowls, plates, salt and pepper shakers, knives, forks, spoons, and sugar bowls. The lunch room has increased in popularity so greatly that it has become necessary to increase the supply of dishes and other equip ment. LENDING LIBRARY ESTABLISHED IN HIGHLANDS A lending library has been estab lished at Rideout and Rice’s Corn er Drug store and is proving very popular. The library has at this time about five dozen books and these will be changed each month. Frank B. Cook has been very ill with pneumonia at his home here. Mrs. A. J. Salinas has returned to Augusta, Ga., after spending the summer and .autumn at her home, “Kalalanta.” Miss M. D. Warren closed her home bere for the winter and left Monday for California. Ciirl Zoellner is critically ill at his home here with pneumonia. Twin girls were born to Mr. ami Mrs. DeWitt Calloway at their home here December 8. Alec McCall who had been ill for many months died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Piaul Henry, the night of December 7. The fu neral was held the following day. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Townsend left last week after spending the autumn at Hotel Edwards. Luther Rice, Jr., made a trip early this week to Anderson, S. C. Buck Caldwell of Dahlonega, Ga., was i,n Highlands XIonday.
