FACE EIGHT i Till FRANKLIN PRESS AND THE HIGHLANDS MAC0N1AN THURSDAY, MARCH II, US Ruth Steppe, Juanita Lee Win Prizes at Aquone A five-dollar cash prize offered each year by Miss Lassie Kelly to some school in the county for the pupil who shows the most improve ment in writing, was won this year by Ruth , Steppe, of the Aquone school, daughter' of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Steppe. Miss Kelly gives the prize as a memorial to her sister, Miss Eliza beth Kelly, and it goes to a dif ferent school each year. This year it went to Aquone. Miss Nora Leach, teacher of the school gave a casji prize to Juanita Lee, daughter of Mrs. R. A. Lee, for being present every day during the term. Juanita also won the prize given by Miss Ethel Hurst, supervisor of the lunch room, for- being on time every day. Schulman. underwent a major operation at the Angel hospital last Friday. Her condition Is satisfactory. Mrs. George Raby, of West's Mill, who underwent an operation the first of the week, is improving. Miss Katherine Porter, who un derwent an operation 'on March 6, is doing nicely. "'. Mrs. Fred' Moore, of West's Mill, underwent a major operation on March 6. Her condition is satis factory. Mr. Grady Beck, of Rainbow Springs, who injured his .'knee with an axe several days ago, was brought to the Angel hospital March 9. He is progrcssrng nicely. Mrs. Ted Gillespie underwent a very serious operation at Angel hospital on March 3. Her condi tion is satisfactory. National Forest Timber for Sale .
