CARSON A delightful affair of the past week was the miscellaneous shower given Thursday afternoon, at . the home of 'Mrs. Charles Waldroop on Cartoogechaye, in compliment to her niece,, Mrs. Richard D,j Car son, who, prior to her recent' mar riage was Miss Georgians McGee. More than fifty guests called during the evening, leaving dainty packages, such as , linens, pottery, silverware, cooking ,utensiles and various other. articles' too numerous to mention, for the honoree. The hostess was assisted in en tertaining tby her sister, Mrs. L. P. Phillips. -.; s v Delicious punch and cakes were served by the hostesses. Mrs. R. L. Fulbright and . Miss Flora Mae Fulbright, of Lake Jun aluska, spent the past week-end with Mrs. Fulbright's father, W. P.t Deal, at his home on Franklin Route 4. Paul Plemmons, who was serious ly injured when struck by ,an auto . mobile seven weeks ago, . and who has ' been in Angel hospital ' since, returned . to 'his home Monday. Paul is . the son of Mr. and . Mrs. Herman H. Plemmons. Eugene Waldroop, son of, Mr. and Mrs. Burnell Waldroop, of Franklin Route 1, fell while flying a kite Monday, and broke his left arm above the wrist. He is getting along nicely now; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ashear left Sunday for Ventura, Calif, where they will spend several weeks with Mrs. Ashear's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Henry and they will also visit Mr. AshearVy brother, George Ashear, in Los Angeles. Miss Irene Parsons returned to her 'home at Brevard Monday, after spending the week-end here, the house guest of . Mrs. Lon Campbell left Wednes day for Atlanta, Ga., where she will spend several days visiting friends. Frank Hill, of Highlands, was among the business visitors here Saturday. ' Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reid and three children came over from Murphy to attend the funeral of Mrs. Reid's father, the Rev. A. S. Solesbee, and spent the week-end with Mrs. Solesbee. Major and Mrs, J. Frank Car mack, who have spent the winter in Tampa, Fla., expect to return to Franklin on April 7, to reopen the golf club for the coming season. Mrs. Sam Rogers, who has been in Brooklyn, New York, with her son, Dn Sam L. Rogers and. in Charlotte with her daughter, Mrs. L. B. Hayes, returned to her home at Rogers Hall Saturday night. Mrs. J. A. Porter, who 'has been confined to her -room for. several months on account of sickness, was able, to be out again last week. , Ralph Dean, who has been spend ing the winter in Miami, Fla., with his uncle, has returned to his home on Franklin Route 3. . Bobby Justice returned Wednes day from Oakland, Calif., where he had been for the past six months with his. uncle, Jim Justice, and is now with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Justice. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Rickman re turned to their home in Gastonia Sunday, after spending a couple of days with Mr. Rickman's mother, Mrs. Alice Rickman, at her home at West's Mill. Gerard Dover, nephew of Major and Mrs. J. Frank Carmack, who has spent several summers in Franklin, has been seriously ill with pneumonia and complications at Christ's school, Arden.
