Flowers will be planted along bord ers. When the work of beautifi cation is completed, the little church 6n the crest will 'be a real beauty spot, and will not, by any means, resemble a "church in the wild A new enterprise in the way of a saw mill has been started near Reid's store. The sponsors are A. W. Reid, of Lake Emory; ad G. C, Ttirpin; of Jaekson county. A number of local men are employed at the mill, and a larger number will be engaged in furnishing logs. It is expected that several million feet of lumber will be cut at this stand. An Easter pageant given by .Ridgecrest Sunday school on Sun day afternoon was well attended and called forth much favorable comment from those present. Influenza has been prevalent throughout the community for sev eral weeks. The sick list this week includes Mrs. Buford Downs, Mr. Z. D. Buchanan, the entire family of Thomas Sanders and Miss Alice Deane. Humphrey Downing and daugh ter were recent visitors, at the home of John Shuler. R. V. Smith, of Canton, was here Sunday visiting his mother, Mrs. J. L. Smith. Mrs. Smith has been ill for several months, but seems now to be recovering. Miss Mildred Moore, our main contact reporter, is suffering with flu. When Mildred 1 is not on ; the job we usually are shy on news. of Mr, and Mrs. Will Shields. Many young people called during the evening and left useful gifts. An egg boil was of interest to several young people Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Ray. , Miss Sharlee Houston spent the week-end with Miss Alice Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Liner re turned Sunday evening after spend ing the week-end in Maryville, Tenn., visiting relatives. John Weaver Sloan, who is teach ing school in Swain county, spent the week-end with home folks. Herman Mason and Ernest Ben nett spent last Saturday night with Hansel Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Robert. Mr. Fred Setser, who has been employed in Asheville for the past few months, spent the week-end at his home here.
