A sur prise birthday party was given Mrs. Martha Gottwals at her home here by friends pn( April 28, Her 83rd birthday. Mrs. Gottwals, 'one of Highlands' best beloved ladies, thoroughly enjoyed the tribute paid her by her many friends. A beauti fully decorated 'birthday cake, furn ished by some of the guests, was served as well as a cake which Mrs. Gottwals herself had made. Delicious punch accompanied' the refreshments. Between the hours of four and six the guests called, each taking Mrs. Gottwals some useful present. 1 SATULAH CLUB TO BUILD CLUB HOUSE At a special meeting of the Sa tulah club held last Tuesday after noon, it was definitely decided that the club would start at once on the building of a club house and gymnasium. . NEW SEATS BOUGHT FOR SCHOOL THEATRE One hundred new seats have been purchased for the Highlands School Theatre and are 'being installed this week. The seats are fully upholstered in dark red leather in modernistic design and are or the type used in the best city theatres. The seats were bought from the National Theatre Supply Co., of Charlotte, and cost $900. They will be paid for out of profits. Mr. Summer has secured M-G-M pictures for the summer season, in cluding many of the greatest hits of recent months. Mr. an.d Mrs. E. A.
