WEAVER-FAISON
Of wide social interest to the
people of Franklin, is the announce
ment made last week by M r. and
Mrs. Isaac L., Weaver, of Lafayette,
Ga., of the engagement of their
daughter, Margaret, to John R.
liaison, of . Franklin.
Miss Weaver spent some time at
High Hampton Inn, Cashiers, N.
C, last summer and visited in
Franklin while there. Those who
met her then will remember her
as a. verv attractive girl with an
engaging charm of personality. I
She attended Lafayette high school,
and received her home economics
degree from Berry college, Rome,
Ga., in 1936. For the past year she
has been connected with the re
settlement administration in New
nan, Ga., as home supervisor.
Air. Faison has been in Franklin
for the past two years and is well
known here. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. W. D. Faison, of Wendell,
N. C. He graduated from Berry
college, Rome.Ga., in 1934, with
a B. S. degree in agriculture: While
there he made a very good record
in different school activities, serv
ing as president of the Agricultural
club, and during his senior year
was selected as the superlative
student in agriculture for the four
years. He was also president of
the X-club, president of the Syrreb
club, and vice president, of the
. Varsity club. After graduation he
remained at Berry as instructor of
agriculture and biology for one year.
He then received appointment as
supervisor with Resettlement Ad
ministration and was stationed at
Gainesville, Ga. Later he was mov
ed to Robbinsville, and from there
was transferred to Franklin in
September, 1935, as county super
visor of Resettlement Administra
tion in Macon, Clay, and Jackson
' counties.
The wedding is being planned
for mid-summer. The couple will
reside in Franklin.

Announcement has been made of
the marriage of Miss Edna Boston
to Ray Dills, which took, place in
Clayton, Ga., on Saturday, June 19,
in a very simple but impressive
ceremony.
Mrs. Dills, who is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Will Boston, of
Cartoogechayc, ' was attired in a
very becoming dress of navy blue,
with white accessories.
Mr. Dills is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Homer Dills, also of Cartoo
gechayc. He has been in a CCC
camp near Ashevule tor the past
two years.
Mrs. Dills is spending the sum
mer with Mrs. Luke Howell, while
Mr. Dills returned to the camp.
FRANKLIN BOY FETED
ON SIXTH BIRTHDAY
Mrs. J. B. Case entertained with
a party Thursday afternoon, hon
oring her son, Lawrence, on his
sixth birthday anniversary.
The birthday cake was white,
bearing six white candles in pink
candle holders. During the after
noon a number of out-door games
were played, after which lemonade,
cookies and cake were served by
the hostess, assisted bv Miss Amy
Cogdill, of Sylva, and Mrs. Bob
Anderson. v

Elwood Cabe. son of Mr. and
Mrs.. Har'vc ' G. Cabe, of Franklin
Route 4, who has been i,n Portland,
Ore., has enlisted in the United
States marines and is now station
ed at San Dcigo, Calif.
Mrs. Jess Oliver and daughter,
M attic Will, of Atlanta, are spend
ing two weeks .here visiting at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Camp
bell. They were accompanied on
their trip up Sunday by Mr. and
Mrs. W. A. Strickland, who were
the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Campbell. Mrs. Strickland is the
former Miss Ethel Oliver, of

ter, Mrs. James Freeman, of La-
