H. Higdon, of Ellijay, and has been attending Franklin high school. ihe bridegroom is the son of John Russell, of Cullasaja. Mr. and Mrs. Russell are making their home , at Rainbow Springs where Mr. Russell is employed. GARDEN CLUB TO MEET WITH MRS. R. M. RIMMER The Garden cWj will meet Mon day afternoon, August 2, at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs. R. M. Rimmer. All members are urged to at tend this meeting. SILVER TEA AT HOME OF MRS W. A. ROGERS A very delightful social event of Thursday afternoon, was the "Silv er Tea" given at the home of Mrs. W. A. Rogers from four to six, sponsored by the F. S. Johnston Bible class of the Franklin Metho dist church. The spacious home was decorated throughout with a mixed variety ot summer flowers and the flowers in the dining room carried out a color scheme of yellow and green, which was furthered in the refreshments. The table was overlaid with a lovely lace cloth, centered with a bowl of yellow flowers and flanked with five-branched bronze . iandel abra, holding green tapers.' The guests were welcomed at the door by Mrs. E. B. McCollum and Mrs. T. W. Porter. Mrs. P. F. Callahan and Mrs. J. S. Sloan poured tea and coffee from the beautifully appointed table during the first hour and Mrs. T. W. Porter and Mrs. Jim Palmer pouring the last hour. Others as- sisting in the dining room were ; Mrs. L. H. Page, Mrs. Zeb Conley, Mrs. R. G. Beshears, Mrs. Lester S. Conley and Miss Margaret Co zad. Mrs. Henry W. . MISS LOUISE BLAINE GIVES BUNCO PARTY Miss Louise Blaine entertained Thursday -evening of last week with a Bunco party and Scavenger hunt in honor of her house guest, Miss Louise Crosby, of San Mateo, Kla.. and the house guest of Miss Jean Hall, Miss Virginia Oliver, of At lanta, Ga. The first event of the evening was the scavenger hunt with the following items on the list : Paul Carpenter's autograph, front page of last Friday's Asheville Citizen, fingerprints of Crawford McCoy, mouse trap, white horse hair, "Mush" Cunningham's Standard cap, 'two pieces of Oralgene chewing gum, 13 ounces of water from a run- mg stream, large size corset, N. C. license plate for 1935, Indian-head penny, old-fashioned night shirt, four-leaf clover, toad frog from Arrowood ' Glade, measurement of Charles Ingram's foot, empty Tex aco oil can, baby rattler, blue shoe string, and blond hair from Charles Russell's head. Upon returning from the hunt, two couples, Jean Hall and Brab son Bulgin, and Virginia Oliver and Billy Blaine, won prizes for securing the largest ' number of items listed. After enjoying several games of bunco, delicious refreshments were served and prizes awarded. High bunco prize for the girls was won by Jean Hall, while Bobby Porter won high prize for the boys. The honor guests were then presented with souvenirs of Franklin. Ed Davis, of Winston-Salem, was a recent guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Cunningham. Mrs. Laura Bowman, of Okla homa City, Okla., came in Sunday for a two weeks' visit with her daughter, Miss Naomi Bowman, who is spending the summer in Franklin with relatives and is stay ing in the Kelly Gift Shop.
