Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wild and daughter, Miss Harriette Lee Wild, returned to their home in Cripple Creek, Colo., Wednesday, after spending 10 days in Macon county visiting relatives and friends. Miss Alice Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Bennett, of Jotla, is attending Pfeiffer Junior college at Misenheimer, N. C. Mrs. George Bulgin is spending some time in Birmingham, Ala vis iting het brother, Prieleau Brabson and Mrs. Brabson. Mrs. A. E. Mrs. Myra Stribling Ellard, who underwent an operation for the re moval of her appendix at Angel hospital Friday, is reported to be doing nicely. Jobs were found for 9,201 workers, 6,621 men and 2.5K0 women, in North Caro lina during August by .the N. C. state employment service, which was about 3,0(X) more than the 6,016 who registered at the various employ ment offices for work during the month, R. Mayne Albright, director, announces.1 Of these, 5,733 were placed in private employment and 3,468 in public works. The various employment service offices had 79j650 people registered for work on their active files who had .not been placed at the. end of August. In Macon county the report for August shows 31 were placed in jobs, 19 new applicants registered for work and that there were 1, 245 on the active list seeking work.
