The Woman's Missionary society
of the Franklin Methodist church
will hold a rummage sale Saturday,
October 2, in the store room on
West Main street, next to Henry
D. West's' grocery store. Various
kinds of clothing will be for sale,
and will be open at 9:30.

Audrey, have returned to their
home in Norfolk, Va., after a visit
with Mrs. Prichett's parents, Mr.

returned to their home in Wash
ington, D. C, after spending a

sister, Mrs. J. C. Barrington. On
their return they were accompanied
by their niece, Annie Jean Pen
land, who,, will spend a while with
Mr. and-Mrs. Justus.
Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Cabe and
family have moved into their new
ly erected home on Bonny Crest.
They formerly lived in the Clark's
Chapel community.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wild and
daughter, Miss Harriette Lee Wild,
returned to their home in Cripple
Creek, Colo., Wednesday, after
spending 10 days in Macon county
visiting relatives and friends.
Miss Alice Bennett, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Bennett, of
Jotla, is attending Pfeiffer Junior
college at Misenheimer, N. C.
Mrs. George Bulgin is spending
some time in Birmingham, Ala vis

and Mrs. Brabson.
Mrs. A. E. Gouge, of Bakersville,
spent the week-end here with her'
mother, Mrs. R. D. Sisk, at her
home on Iotla street.
Miss Vera B. Ramey has re
turned to her home in Lynchburg,
Va., after a visit with her. parents,
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Ramey, at
their home on Franklin Route 2.
Mrs. R. D. Sisk' left Wednesday
for Charlotte for a visit with her
son, R. V. Sisk and Mrs. Sisk and
a visit in Concord with her nephew,
Ross Zachary and Mrs. Zachary.
Mrs. Myra Stribling Ellard, who
underwent an operation for the re
moval of her appendix at Angel
hospital Friday, is reported to be
doing nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wild, of
Denver, Colo., are spending several
days in Franklin and surrounding
vicinity with relatives and friends,.
Mrs. Manson Stiles spent a
couple of days the first of the
week with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Sweatman, at their home
on Cartoogechaye.
Mrs. Stanhope Sams, of Charles
ton, S. C, who has been the guest
of her sister, Mrs. J. W. C. John
son, left Thursday to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Blackburn W. Johnson in
AsheviHe before returning home.
Mrs. Iona DeHart has returned
from Duke hospital and is much
improved after a successful opera
tion; Cecil Lcdford left Saturday, Sep
tembcr 18, for Burlington,1 Wash.,
where he has employment.

Baz Jacobs, of Douglas, Wyo.,
is here for a visit with his mother,
Mrs. Jule Jacobs, who is quite ill
at her home on the Murphy road.

a visit with relatives and friends in

Miss Catherine Ray returned to
her home at West's ' Mill Friday,

Annie Hurst, in Detroit, Mich., and
other relatives and friends there.
She also visited in Niagara" Falls
and New- York while away.
Mr. and Mrs. U. N. Carpenter,
of Coweta, came in Friday for the
Gipsy Smith revival and shopped
while here.
Ralph West, assistant manager of
the A&P grocery store, left Mon
day morning" for. Bryson .City, to
work in their store there tor a
few weeks.
T. Angel and famiry left last
week for Burlington, Wash., where
they plan to make their home in
the future.
Manson Stiles, who . is working
in Lawrenceville, G,a., came. up. for
the week-end. He was accompanied
by Harold Kelly, son of Dr. and
Mrs. Claude Kelly, of Lawrenceville.

Jobs Found For
9,201 N. C. Workers
RALEIGH, Sept. 29. Jobs were
found for 9,201 workers, 6,621 men
and 2.5K0 women, in North Caro
lina during August by .the N. C.
state employment service, which was
about 3,0(X) more than the 6,016 who
registered at the various employ
ment offices for work during the
month, R. Mayne Albright, director,
announces.1 Of these, 5,733 were
placed in private employment and
3,468 in public works.
The various employment service
offices had 79j650 people registered
for work on their active files who
had .not been placed at the. end of
August.
In Macon county the report for
August shows 31 were placed in
jobs, 19 new applicants registered
for work and that there were 1,
245 on the active list seeking work.
