SLAGLE The December meeting of the Macon county chapter of the Unit ed Daughters of Confederacy was held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs. A. B. Slagle on West Main street. After the business was dispensed with the packing and wrapping of the Christmas boxes for" the few remaining . ' Confederate veterans, was the. main feature of the eve ning,. There are only three white and one colored veteran in Macon county. ( Mrs. H. E. Church was appoint ed chairman of the program, com mittee, ,Mrs. Slagle was assisted by her daughter, Miss Ruth Slagle, in serving a delicious salad at the conclusion of the meeting. CATHOLIC BRIDGE PARTY VERY SUCCESSFUL The bridge party arranged by the local .Catholic women and held last Friday night was a great success. Over 60 enjoyed the games, enter tainment and refreshments. Mrs. Averell sang two songs in keeping with the festive season and little Miss Inez Crawford gave a tap dance selection.
