Cheek, son Billy, and "daughter, Lois, spent the week-end with relatives in Vadkinville. Miss Vonnie West, who is a teacher in Bryson City schools, spent the Christmas holidays at home. ; Miss arid Mrs. Ralph- R. Mc Lean, from Raleigh, spent a few days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. McLean, recently. Miss Mary Elmore, a teacher at Aquone, spent the Christmas holi days at home here. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Holbrooks visited relatives here during the holidays. The social committee of the Ep worth League entertained the league members of the Methodist church here Friday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. N. West. Games were played, delicious refreshments served and Christmas carols sung. V. A. Browning, from Bryson City, was here on business last, Saturday. . Messrs Alex, and Will Elmore spent the Christmas holidays at home. Clyde N. West, Rev Williams and W. L. Cheek went deer hunt ing in the Cartoogechaye section last Wednesday. C. N. West killed a deer weighing 150 lbs. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bryson spent Sunday with their parents Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Morgan. Miss Nelle 'Parfish spent the-week-end with her parents at Bryson City,' Mr. and Mrs. Claude Parrish. . -;' . 1 ; .' Mrs. James Bryson and ; son," Horace, have moved to the CGC camp here where Horace will have charge of the camp property. Mrs. Lizzie - Potts, from Bryson City, who "has been spending sev eral days with her brother, T. B Matlock and family, returned home last- Saturday. Cartoogechaye Clifford Cruse, whl has been enlisted in the U. S. army, is vis iting his parents, Mr. and Mrs.' -E. G. Cruse. Miss Dorothy Southard, of Frank lin, was visiting her grandparents, Mr.; and Mrs. T. M. Southard, the past week. Neil Waldrodp, ' who has been employed m the state of Washing ton for the past eight months, has returned to his home. Jim Keith, -of Newport,-: Tenn., was in this' section 'on iiisiness Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Burl Southard and small son spent the Christmas holi days with Mrs.-Southard's parents, Mr. . and Mrs. ' Lawrence Dills, of Hiawassee, Ga. Christmas Program At Mashburn Branch A Christmas program was given at Mashburn Branch, school hoUse on December 23. The program was "given by the adult education school and the public school of the community. Sam Bryson is the public school teacher and Miss Trulla Vinson the, adult teacher. These teachers worted together and the program wassa great success. .' The building was decorated with holly and mistletoe, and: the! Christ-, mas 'tree was very beautiful. Lovely presents , were ; receivjed by 76 people. " :' ' ' ' ' " Th.e program was, well carried out 'without any flarts being for gotten.
