MRS. HAROLD RIDEOUT
Mrs. Harold Rideout, formerly
Miss Tessie McDowell, was honor
ed on Saturday with a shower at
the home of Mrs. Gotwals. Many
guests called during the afternoon
and the bride was the recipient of
beautiful gifts. The hostess assisted
by Mrs. T. C. Harbison, served de
licious refreshments of ice cream
and cakes. "
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
TO SPONSOR PLAY
The Highlands Chamber of Com
merce will sponsor a three-act play,
"Oh Professor," at the Highlands
Theatre tonight (Thursday), at 8
o'clock. The principal characters
are: Steve, Rev. R. B. DuPree;

sor, Edward Potts; Mrs. Bumboard,
Mrs. Harry Holt; Bob, Bud Ruck-'

OFFICIALS DISTRIBUTE
46,000 BLACK BASS
Government officials distributed
46,000 Black- Bass on Monday in
the . five lakes in Highlands, Kan
onah Lake, Lake Sequoia, Mirror
Lake, Lindenwood Lake, and the
County Club Lake. The fishing
season opens oh June 10.
POSTMASTER WELL PLEASED
WITH AIR MAIL RESULTS
Postmaster, S. E. Potts has re
ported that although Highlands did
not reach its quota of 1,000 air
mail letters during National Air
Mail Week, he is well pleased with
the result. There were 609 letters
mailed by air mail during the week.
On Thursday, when a sack of mail
was carried to Rosman to an air
plane 212 letters were mailed.
Letters weie mailed to every state
in the United States, and to, 10 for
eign countries. Each Governor re
ceived a Highlands folder mailed
by two individuals. Postmaster
Potts stated that with very little
further effort the goal set could
easily have been reached.
HIGHLANDS WINS BALL
GAME FROM CASHIERS v
The Highlands baseball team won
a game with Cashiers baseball team
last Sunday afternoon. The score
was 10-9. Batteries for Highlands
were Ken McKinney and .Dewey
Hopper.
Dr. Armstrong, of Atlanta, and
G. A. Worley of Miami, have
joined their wives here for a short
stay at their cottage on Mirror
Lake.
Mrs. C. E. Mitchell left on Fri
day for a two weeks visit with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Ryan,
in Hawkinsville, Ga.
Mrs. W. W. Edwards was hos

Missionary From China
To Speak At Ridgecrest
The annual associational meeting
of the Woman's Missionary Union
will be held with the Ridgecrest
Baptist church on Thursday, June
2. Miss Helen McCullough, a re
turned missionary from China, will
be the principal speaker, and the
various church es 'of the county will
take part in the program.
The afternoon program will be
in charge of the young people from
the different churches.
