Horsley, which was per formed Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of Mrs. T. J.' BAPTIST W. M. U. TO MEET JULY 21 The Woman's Missionary Union of the Franklin Baptist church will meet pn Thursday, July 21, at 3 o'clock. Circle Ivio. 1 will meet at the home of Mrs. R. M. MEETS AT ARROWOOD The regular monthly b'usiness meeting of the Woman's Alission ary Union of the Franklin Baptist church met at Arrowood Glade on Thursday: afternoon with 34 mem bers present and one visitor. The devotional was led by Aliss Charlotte Conley, with the treas urer's report being made by Airs. O.C.Bryant. Airs. Sam Gibson, county super intendent of the Woman's Alis'sion ary Union, was presented a W. Al. U. pin from the Franklin society in appreciation of the splendid co operation and' service she has ren dered the society during, her leader ship. The hostesses, Airs. J. Horner Stockton, Mrs. A. R. Higdon, Airs. J. H. Carelock and Airs. O. C. Bryant, served delicious ice cold watermelons. Frank Shope has returned to his work in Reidsville, after spending 10 days visiting his parents, Air. and Mrs. Z.. .V. Shope, at their home at Prentiss. Airs. Hugh Olliver and daughter, Patsy, of Birmingham, Ala., are spending several days here visiting Airs. Olliver's sister, Airs. J. S. Conley and Air. Conley, at their home on Harrison avenue. Charlie Sutton and family, who have been living in the Parrish house on Bidwell street, moved to Sylva Afbnday where Air. Sutton will operate a shoe shop. Albert Raby and Walter Gibson, who are working at Spruce Pine, spent the week-end here with iriends. , Rev. and Airs. W. B. Underwood and daughter, Aliss Dorothy Espy, MOTOR of Douglasville, Ga., are spending several days in Franklin, the house guests of Air. and Mrs. Jack Wey inan, at their home on Harrison avenue. ..'. . Joe Palmer, who has 'been con fined to his room for the past week on account of sickness, was -reported to be improved Tuesday. Airs. Georgia Casazza and daugh ter, Alice, Ona Baker and a Mr. Talmadge, all of Lyndliurst, N. J., spent several days last week with Airs. Casasza's sister, Airs. "George Alallonee and Air. Alallonee' at their home on Harrison avenue. On their return Alonday they were accom jwnied by A. D. Perkins, father of Airs. Alallonee, who had been here vijsiting since last n October. Air. Perkins is 91 years old. Rev. and Mrs. J. M. Terrell, missionaries from Brazil; ' Mrs. Reginald Turner and son, Jimmy, of Asheboro, are spending several days here with Mrs. Terrell's. sister, Airs.
