Mrs. Guest is the daughter of Henry Bates and the late Mrs. Bates, of near Franklin. She was attired in a blue and white crepe dress. Mr. Guest is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Guest, of Franklin Route 4. Mr. and Mrs. Guest are making their home at present with the groom's parents. METHODIST W. M. S. TO MEET WITH MRS. I TEA GIVEN BY BAPTIST YOUNG WOMEN'S AUXILIARY The Young Women's Auxiliary of the Baptist church entertained the Women's .Missionary society with a tea in the garden at Rock Haven last Thursday afternoon, July 21. Showers drove the guests from the garden and theyjyvere in vited into the home . of Dr. and Mrs. Harold Mengle. Approximately uo ladies who call ed during the afternoon were re ceived by Mrs. Hyldah Shepherd, Miss ' Rosa Lee Kiser and' Miss Lucille Hall, and shown into the dining room by Miss Meda Peek. The table was covered with a love ly lace cloth, and was presided over by Misses Esta Mae Childer, Helen DeHart and Frances Smith. ' Tea, sandwiches, cakes and punch were served. Out-of-town guests for the occa sion were, Rev. and Mrs. W. B. Underwood, Misses Dorothy Espy and Mabel Thompson, of Dbiiglas ville, Ga. Mrs. C. L. Calfee and daughter, Helen, of Madisonville, Tenn., spent a few days this week with the former's aunt, Mrs. M. D. Bil lings and Mr. Billings, at their home on Harrison avenue. Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Furr and four children, spent the past week end in Concord with Dr. Furr's parents. Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Coine, of Charlotte, spent last week in Frank lin with Mrs. Coine's sister, Mrs. Frank L. Guest. T. C. Bryson, Jr., of West's Mill, left last week for Lodge Grass, Mont., where he has employment. Mrs. J. K. "Rainey, of Nashville, Tenn.,, is spending several weeks visiting her daughter, Mrs. II. E. Church and Mr. Church, at the Orlando apartment on Harrison avenue. Miss Ann Starr, of Atlanta, is' spending a couple of weeks with her cousin, Mrs. Frank Higdon, at her home on Bidwell street. Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Kates and family, of Anderson, S. C, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Guest. Roy Cantrell and Everett Raby, of West's Mill, made a business trip to Marietta, Ga., Monday. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Penn and Mrs. J. C. Barrington spent Satur day afternoon in Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Siler and two daughters of Bryson City, spent Sunday with Mrs. Siler's mother, Mrs. Robert Pattillo, at her home on Franklin Route 4. ' Mrs. A. S. Solesbee, who has been taking treatment at Angel hospital for diabetes, is much .improved and she has returned to her home on Franklin Route 3. Mrs. . J. V.
