MRS. CROSBY CELEBRATES
97th BIRTHDAY JULY 20
Mrs. Martha Webster Crosby, of
San Mateo, Fla., received many
congratulations on her 97th birth
day July 20. Mrs. Crosby has been
coming to Highlands for over 40
years.
MISS GILLDER GIVES
THEATRE PARTY
Miss Sarah Gillder gave a theatre
party Tuesday night to Miss Peggy
Pollhill and Miss Mary Elizabeth
Young and a few of their, friends.
They saw the picture, 'Toy Wife,"
and were treated at the drug store
afterwards.
BUDGET PREPARED AND
TAX RATE FIXED 1
The Highlands tax rate for 1938
has been set at $2.25 per hundred
dollars, and the budget was fixed
at $24,664.
ACCIDENT SATURDAY NEAR
BRIDAL VEIL FALLS
A car driven by the children of
K. B. Zohner skidded oii the road
near Bridal Veil Falls late Satur
day afternoon. The children were
not badly hurt, ) but the car , was
considerably damaged.
B. Y. P. U. ACTIVITIES'
The program, was opened by the
singing of "The Great Physician."
The prayer was led by Mr. Ben
field. The intermediate union then
assembled in another room for their
program. The Senior Bible quiz
leader then took charge and asked
a lot of interesting questions about
the Bible.
Paul Waldon gave the introduc
tion to the lesson and the follow
ing members took part on .the pro
gram: Sarah Waldon, Mr. Ben
field, Paul Waldon, Doris Potts, and
Carlton Cleaveland.
The parts were then given out
for next Sunday night and the
program was closed by the sing
ing of "Take My Life And Let It
Be." The rest of the time was
turned over 'to Mr. Benfield for
preaching service.
