Floor baskets of white chrysan themums and cathedral ' tapers in seven-branched candelabra were grouped againsj a background o fern and long-leaf pines. . Mrs. Charles M. Burns presided at the organ, and Miss Mararut Allen was. the soloist for the mu sical program preceding the cere mony. The ushers were John Coxe and Gordon Cashwell, of Wades boro; John Duncan Leak, of Char lotte; and George Penny, of Mor ven. The bridegroom was accom panied by his brother, James D, Patton, as best man. . Miss Helen Patton, of Franklin, sister of the bridegroom, was the maid of honor. She wore a tailored costume of dubonnet. crepe with matching accessories and a should er bouquet of Johanna Hill roses The bride was given" in marriage by her brother, W.. H. Gulledge She was becomingly gowned in sap phire blue velvet, completed with a small hat and face veil and other harmonizing accessories. She wore a 'shoulder bouquet of pink roses. and lilies of the valley. . ' v . . Following the ceremony an infor mal reception was held at the home of the bride's mother for the out-of-town guests and relatives. Upon their return from a. motor trip. Mr. and Mrs. Patton will make their home in Wadesboro. Mrs. Patton is the only daughter of Mrs. W. M. Gulledge and the late Mr. Gulledge. She received her education at the Woman's Col lege . of the University of North Carolina, and for the pa,s,t three years has held a. position with the civil service . commission im Wash ington, D. C. Mr. Patton s the son of ; Robert A. Patton' and the late Mamie Slagle Patton, of Franklin. He was graduated from the engineering school of State college and; is em ployed by the Soil Conservation service. - ." Carelock received a message Tuesday night, reporting the death of Mrs. Thomas Greer, of Hastings, Gx., mother of Mrs. Eugene R. fil ler. Mrs. Greer often visited her daughter in Franklin, while Mr. El ler was pastor of the Franklin Bap tist church. Mrs. Greer made many friiends during her visits here who Will deeply regret to learn of her death.
