Mr. Higdon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Higdon, - of Franklin, and is in a CCC camp at Robbins- ville. They were accompanied to Llay ton by Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Reeves and Harvey Roper. CAKE-CUTTING PARTY FOR NEWLY WEDS r ' Mr. and Mrs. I. B.'Southerland, whose marriage was an event ot last Saturday, were honored at a cake-cutting on Friday evening at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and .Mrs. Carl Slagle. The party followed the wedding rehearsal, and was attended by the wedding party and several friends. The guests gathered in the dining room where the table was laid with white linen and held a large bowl of white cosmos. The wedding cake was placed at one end of the table and Was presided over by the bride. Mrs. Frank Bloxham poured coffee from a lovely silver service at the other end of the table. Be fore the cake was cut the guests were invited to pull their "for tunes," which were tied to white ribbons and arranged under the cake. There was much "merriment as these fortunes were read aloud. During the evening Mr. and Mrs. Ben W. Woodruff entertained the guests with music. The Rev. Frank Bloxham, Mrs. Harry Higgins, Mr J. W.rC. John son, and Mrs. B. W. Woodruff at tended the fall meeting of .the Woman's Auxiliary of the Episcopal diocese of Western North Carolina held at Bat Cave' on' .Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. W. . H.
