GARDEN CLUB TO MEET WITH MRS. ARCHER The regular monthly meeting of the Franklin Garden club will be held at the home of Mrs. John Archer, Monday afternoon, No vember 7 at 3 o'clock. After the business session a pro gram will be presented and all members are urged to attend. ATHLETIC CLUB ENJOYS MASQUERADE PARTY The Young People's Athletic club had a masquerade party Friday eve ning at the Agricultural building and about 45 members attended to enjoy the fun. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Overcash and Mr. and Mrs. Ben W. Wood ruff were hosts and hostesses for the evening and before the folks left, served delicious hot chocolate and cookies. Plans were made for more get togethers in the future and for keeping the club active. ARCHER CHILDREN GIVE HALLOWE'EN PARTY Little Miss Mary Alice and Master Bardy Archer entertained 20 of their young friends at a Hallowe'en party Saturday night, from 7 to 9. The children came in costume and immediately started on a hunt for pictures oi cats, owls and pump kins which had been hidden around the rooms. Patricia Allen won the prize for finding the most numbers. Other games were played and Anne Flanagan won a contest for walking through a row of pump kins while blindfolded, and John Flanagan took the prize for pinning the tail on the black cat. The house was attractively deco rated throughout with colors ano articles appropriate to the season and day. Favors were presented to .each child and refreshments were ' ice cream decorated with cats, witches and pumpkins, and cake. Miss Lassie Kelly attended the State Bar association meeting and Court Reporters' convention held in Raleigh last Friday. Misses Polly Welch and Lena Conley spent the week-end in Hay -r eSville, with Miss Thelma Welch. Mrs. T. H. Callahan and son, Hall, of Bryson City," were visiting friends and relatives in Franklin today. Mrs. J. J. Edwards has returned home after a visit to Charlotte, Asheboro and other points. D. P. Cabe, Mr. and Mrs. Carl P. Cabe and Mrs. St. Clair Ander son, spent Saturday in Greenville, S. C. Mrs. Carl Jamison, of Glen ville, also accompanied them. Miss Ethel Wise, of Biltmore, .spent the week-end with her uncle, R. D. West and Mrs. West, at their home at the Iotla bridge. Mrs. R. M. Ledford, who" has been visiting relaties and friends in Ellijay, Ga., for the past three weeks, has returned to her home. J. Norman West attended the Tennessee-L. S. U. game at Knox ville, Tenn., Saturday. Walter P. Ramsey, a commercial teacher in the Bryson City high school and a former classmate of Norman West, was a recent guest at his home on Iotla. Baptist Church Items Pastor Rev. " C.I- F. Roger will preach Sunday at 11 o'clock on the theme, "What .is Worship ?" At 7:30 the, pastor will continue his messages on S trip through the Bible, stopping at the 12th of Gen esis with the Call of Abraham, and will use for his theme, "The Jew in Prophesy and History." The Men's Brotherhood will meet at 6 :30 p. m. at the same hour that the B. T. U. meets. At the Sunday school hour the lesson will be a discussion on the home. Next week,' following the first Sunday of . the month will be Mis sionary week, and the business meeting of the W. M. S. will be held , Thursday at 3 p. m. at the library. We are hoping for her a speedy recovery. Miss La Verne Rogers has left to spend the winter with her sister, near Asheville. Mrs. Arie Wood and Mrs. Arey Wood, of Athens, Tenn., were re cent visitors in this communiity. Lona Everett, small son at Mr. and Mrs. Tom Barnes, who has been seriously ill, is much improved. Miss Lois Henderson spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. nd Mrs. Charles Henderson, at Gneiss. John Earnest, of Walhalla, S. C, spent a few days visiting friends in this community recently. Rev.
