Franklin Churches To
Observe Day Of Prayer
Plans have been completed for
the program for the World Day
of Prayer to be observed by the
FraYiklin churches at a union 'ser
vice to be held at the Methodist
church at 2 o'clock on' Friday,
February 24.
Mrs. W. J. ' Zackary, president
of the Woman s Missionary society
of the Methodist church, will pre
side at the meeting,
The pastors of the four Frank
lin churches will lead the program,
divided. into the following periods:
Praise and Thankscivinir. Recollec
tion of Jesus. Penitence. Dedication
of Gifts, Intercession, and Dedica
tion.
The leaders will conduct respon
sive services, prayer and medita
tions, bearing on the theme. "Let
Us Put Our Love Into Deeds and
Make it Real."

Cagle Restaurant
Acquires More Space
A. G. Cagle, proprietor of
Cagle's restaurant, has leased the
room next door recently vacated
by Trotter's store, and states that
he will install modern equipment
and operate it as a dining room
of the highest class, A connect
ing door will be cut between the
two rooms to facilitate service.
The Trotter stock of goods, it
is understood, has been sold to
Mr. Simon, of Bryson City, and
moved to that place.

George Malaiko, 54, Toronto newsboy, has frequently attracted at
tention by selling his papers attired in dress clothes and top hat, aU
set for the opera when his papers were sold. This year he lost his
money in the stock market, and offered a year's subscription to anyone
who would finance a trip to New York where he could hear "Don
Giovanni." The, trip was arranged by Edward Johnson, general man
ager of the Metropolitan opera, and Richard Crooks, leading member.

moval of her appendix Monday.
