The wedding . ceremony was per
formed in Clayton, Ga., on Satur
day, February 11, in the presence
of a small assemblage of friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Mason are making
their home on Iotla at present.

CONTEST COMMITTEE
Miss Virginia Smith, daughter of
Dr. and Mrs. Frank T. Smith, of
Frankliii, who is music supervisor
in the school at ' Roanoke Rapids,
has been appointed chairman of the
program committee for the state
high school music contest which is
held each .spring in Greensboro.
Miss Smith recently attended a
meeting of the committee in
Greensboro at which arrangements
were made for the preliminary
contests which precede the main
event. '

their cooperation and assistance in

A nominating committee was ap
pointed ' to nominate officers for
the ensuing year, which will be
elected at the March meeting. Those
appointed were: Mrs. T. W. Angel,
Jr., Mrs. Herbert E. Church . and
Mrs. L. H. Page.

Mr. and Mrs. Carr Bryson enter
tained with a dinner at their home

Mr. Bryson's father, T. G. Bryson,
Sr., on his 88th birthday anniversary.
A delicious dinner was. served by
Mr. and Mrs. Bryson and a large
number of friends called during the
day wishing the honoree many more
happy birthdays and leaving little
tokens of remembrances.

C. A. Cabe, who has been con
fined to his bed, suffering from
pneumonia, was reported Tuesday
to be somewhat improved.
Mrs. H. T. Horsley ' and two
children, Betty, and Howard, are
spending two weeks in Daytena
Beach, Fla.
Miss. Carolyn Lassiter, of Battle
boro, is on an extended visit to
her sister, Mrs. K. F. Montague,
and Mr. Montague, who have an
apartment at the' home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. F. Curtis.
Mrs. Hallie Russell, of Atlanta,
is spending several days with her
sister, Mrs. Furman Angel and Dr.
Angel, at their home on Harrison
avenue.
Mrs. George A. Jpnes left Tues
day for Asheville, where she will
spend this week attending the Wo
man's Missionary Council and visit
ing her son, Weimer Jones and
Mrs. Jones.
Mrs. Gus Leach has returned to
her home on West Main street,
after spending two weeks in Flor
ida visiting relatives, and friends.
Miss Maryville Higdon, who is
doing . stenographic - work in Sylva,
spent the week-end in Franklin
with her uncle, Lyman Higdon and
Mrs. Higdon.
Mrs. William Katenbrink, of At
lanta, is spending several days vis
iting her mother, Mrs. 1 Myra All
man and sister, Miss Mary Allman,
at their home on the Georgia road.
Bill Penland, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lex Penland, of Bonny Crest, left
Monday morning for Akron, Ohio.
Mrs. Roy Mize, of Clayton, Ga.,
spent the week-end with her broth
er, Fred Palmer and Mrs. Palmer,
at their home on highway No. 28.
Miss Mary Allman, who has been
in Atlanta visiting her sisters, Mrs.
William Katenbrink and Mrs. H. B.
Kelpin, has returned to her home
here.

have returned to their home in
New York City, after spending sev

their home at Cullasaja.
Miss Sarah Kelpin and Miss
Phyllis Thomas, of Atlanta, have
returned to their homes after a
visit with Miss Kelpin's grand
mother, Mrs. Myra Allman, at her
home on the Georgia road.
Mrs. D. C. McCoy has returned
to her home on Oak Grove, after
taking treatment at Angel hospital
for several days.
Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Bryson and
Bill Sheffield, of Detroit, Mich.,
came in Friday for a visit with
Mr. Bryson's father, Robert T. Bry
son and Mrs. Bryson at their home
at West's Mill, also for a visit with
Mrs. Bryson's and Mr. Sheffield's
father, W. C. Sheffield. They left
Tuesday for Woodrow for a visit
with Mrs. Sheffield's sister, Mrs.
E. B. Rickman and Mr. Rickman.
Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Fouts spent
Thursday at Glenville attending the
birthday dinner of Elbert Watson,
who celebrated his 96th birthday
anniversary. He is still enjoying fair
health and always looks forward to
having his friends in on this spe
cial occasion.

spending a week with relatives and
friends in Franklin and surrounding

Mrs. Manson Stiles has returned
to her home on Bidwell street,
after a visit with her mother, Mrs.
Joe Sweatman, who is ill. at her
home on Cartoogechaye.

from Atlanta, where she ipent a
week with her son, Neville Sloan
and Mrs. Sloan. On her return Sat
urday she was accompained by Mr.
and Mrs. Sloan, who spent the
week-end in Franklin with relatives
and friends.
Harvey Smith, of Robbinsville,
was a week-end visitor in Franklin.
Mrs. Smith is stationed here with
the Area WPA as a case worker.
Manson Stile,s, who is working in
Atlanta, spent the. latter part of
the week at his home on Bidwell

Miss Eunice Whiteside, a teacher
in Kutherfordton .schools, spent the
week-end with Miss Mary Elmore
at West's Mill. .
The many friends of Mr. and
Mrs.. William Nothstein, of An
drews, formerly residents, in Frank
lin with the Nantahala forest ser
vice, were glad to greet them last
Slnday. With their little daughter,
Alary Caroline, they were glests
