PAGE The Franklin Garden Club will meet at the home of Mrs. L. H. Page, on Rogers Hill, on Monday afternoon, April 3, at 3 o'clock, for the regular monthly business and social meeting, with Mrs. Henry W. Cabe, as associate hostess. A household plant show will be : one of the features of the meeting. These plants are to be judged on the healthiest, prettiest and the most unique. Also a plant sale will be held at this time and all mem- . bers are asked to donate either pot ted plants or .shrubbery. These will be sold at' a very low price. This is also time for the election of officers for the ensuing year. All members are urged to be present. MR. AND MRS. R. H. HULL ATTEND MISSION CONFERENCE Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Hull left Wednesday to attend the Middle Atlantic District Missionary con ference which is to be held in the First Methodist church in ' Knox ille, Tenn., March '29 through April 1. Missionaries from all over the district will attend. Mr. Hull will have a part on the program which will include such speakers as Dr. Elliott D. Parkhill, .secretary of missions, and Dr. Arthur Baker, editor of publications. Mr. and Mrs. Hull will return to Franklin Saturday. ,, MISS EVELYN MOSS GIVES MUSICAL PARTY Miss Evelyn Moss entertained a number of her friends and mem bers of 'her music class at a musical program at her home on Bidwell street Saturday afternoon. Musical numbers were rendered by Betty Lou Skaggs, Ctallen Bry ant, Helen Rickman, MyrA Slagle and the hostess.. Others attending were Mrs. C. T. Blaine, Mrs. W. R. Skaggs, Mrs. Watson, of Cullowhet; ' Mrs. J, D. Porter and Mrs. Harry S. Higgins. Delicious refreshments were served at the conclusion of the party. Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Weise and two children left Saturday for Walhalla, S. C, where Mr. Weise has been transferred to the Sumter national forest. Mrs. Charlie Bradley, who under went a very serious operation at Angel hospital Saturday, was re ported to be doing very-nicely.- Mrs. J. Wayne Higdon left Wed nesday for Hot Springs, Ark., where she will spend several weeks visiting 'her husband, who is work ing in the forest service there. Mr. and Mrs. Harley Dunbar and young daughter, . Peggy, returned to their home in East Franklin Sunday evening, after spending a month in Lake Worth, Fla. They were accompanied by Mrs. Dunbar's mother, Mrs. John J. Blaine,- who spent a month in Jacksonville with her son, James C. Blaine and fam ily. : . Frank Shope, who is working in Nashville, Tenn., spent a couple of days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zeb V. Shope, at their home at prentiss, prior to his leaving for Huntsville, Ala., where be has been transferred. Mrs. Carrol Gibson, 'who has been a patient in Angel hospital, has re turned to her home at West's Mill, and was reported to ' be getting along" very nicely. David C. Greene, who has been critically ill at his home on Car toogechaye for the past week, suf fering with pneumonia and pleurisy, was reported to be somewhat im proved Tuesday morning. William Blaine, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Blaine, who is a stu dent at Mars Hill college, is spend ing his spring holidays in Washing ton, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. Tack O. Werner and daughter, Doris, spent a couple of days last week in Atlanta, vis iting relatives, and friends Percy Wright, who has been ill at his home on West Main street, was reported to be much improv ed and well on the way to re covery. Mrs. J. D. Porter, who was call ed to Asheville on account of the illness of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Florence Porter, has returned to the home of her sister, Mrs. Har ry S. Higgins and Mr. Higgins on Harrison avenue. She reported Mrs. Porter to be somewhat improved. She was accompanied 4x her hus band, who will spend several days here visiting. Charles Melichar, supervisor of the Nantahala national forest, made a business trip to Murphy Tuesday, Mrs. Maude Potts, of fctna, spent the week here visiting her brother, Charlie Bradley. Oscar C. Bryant and three sons, Kenneth, Clell and Cullen, and Mrs. C T. Blaine . spent Tuesday in Asheville.
