SPONSOR PLAY
The S. Johnston Bible class
of the Franklin Methodist church
held its regular monthly business
and social meeting Thursday after
noon at the home of Mrs. H.. O.
Cozad on Wayah .street with 15
'members and "visitors present.
Mrs. W. W. Sloan, president,
presided over the business session.
Jt was decided to sponsor a play,
"The Family . Album." It will be
given in the courthouse on Satur
day evening, September 9.

A. J. Evans on Cullasaja. Mrs.
Patch ha, been in 18 states since
leaving Florida the. latter part of

Mr. wnd Mrs. Reid Cabe and
three children, Barbara, Tommy
and Alice, of Richmond, Va., came
in Saturday for a short visit to
Mr, Cabe's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
C. A. Cabe, on Franklin Route 2,
and Mrs. Cabe's father and moth
er, Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Callahan,
in Franklin. They also visited Mrs,
Cabe's brother, T. H. Callahan and
Mrs. Callahan in Bryson City.
Mr. Frank Hill and daughter,
Mrs. Norris, of Highlands, were
visitors in Franklin Saturday.
Mrs, Herbert W. Wall, of Holly
wood, ' Calif., spent the week-end
with Mr. anil Mrs. George B. Pat
ton, at their home on Harrison
avenue. Mrs. Wall will be remem
bered as the former Mrs. R. M.

Ralph West, Jr., assistant man
ager of the Atlantic & Pacific Tea
store, is spending his two weeks'
vacation at points in Florida.
Mrs. Wade H, Moody and daugh
ter, Marian, of Asheville, spent

LITTLE THEATRE TO
PRESENT "DULCY" AS
FIRST PLAY
The recently organized High
lands Little Theatre will present
its first play, "Dulcy," by George
FY Kauffman and Marc Connelly,
Tuesday night, August 29th, at the
School Theatre, with 'tl e following
cast of characters:
Anne Altstaetter, Frank Lowmaii,
Tony Moore, Jack H. Wilcox, Tom
Fitz-Patrick, Polly Raoul, Marga
ret Rankin, Edgar Neely, Jr., Her
bert C. Milkey, Sarah Bridges
Thompson, and Henry Zoellner.
The cast is made up of people
who have . had considerable stage
experience, and of other, who are
appearing on the stage for the first
time. The Little -Theatre group,
which hopes to include others not
already aligned with it, is anxious
to promote enough interest and
enthusiasm this summer to carry
over for a full season next year,
with production at regular inter
vals. Dulcy is a light comedy, the
story of a young wife who insists
on carrying out her well-meaning
but flighty, and often disastrous,
notions of helping her husband in
business. The play is. directed by
Tom Fitz-Patrick, associate profes
sor of architecture, Clemson col
lege,' who is a charter member and
director of the Clemson Little
Theatre.
Tickets have been on general
sale for the past week, and will be
qn sale at Anderson's Drug Store
from Friday through Monday. Re
served seats are 50 cents and gen
eral admission 35 cents.
Through the courtesy of Mr. O.
F. Summer, the. Little Theatre has
been allowed to hold rehearsals in
the school theatre, and to rent the
theatre for the night of its per

TO SPONSOR DANCE
The Hudson Library Association
is sponsoring a dance at Helen's
Barn Monday night, August 28, for
the benefit of the Library. This
committee on arrangements is hop
ing to have a number of special
dances with prizes for each dance.

RETURN TO MEMPHIS
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney W. Farns
worth and their two daughters,
Miss Frances and Miss Catherine
Farnsworth have returned to their
home in Memphis, Tenn., after a
visit with their uncle, P. T. Farns
worth, at his home, "Corrymela,"
on East Main street. .
Mr. Farnsworth is president of
the Farnsworth Building Corpora
tion in Memphis. He .served as first
lieutenant in the World War, and
has recently been appointed hon
orary " Colonel of the Tennessee
Guards by the Governor, alongj
with five others.
Miss Elizabeth Farnsworth was
Queen of the 1939 Memphis Cot
ton Carnival, and was graduated
from Vassar College last June,
winning the coveted Prix de Paris
given annually by the Vogue fash
ion magazine, competing with
graduates from 252 other colleges.
Mis,s Farnsworth goes to New York
the first of September to take up
her - work with the Vogue staff
where she will be for the next six
months:; she will then have a year
in Paris. Miss Farnsworth was
born in Atlanta and has a number
of relatives there.
'Miss Catherine Farnsworth is a
student at the Presbyterian South
western College for Women in
Memphis.
The Farnsworth family, and espe
cially Mrs. Farnsworth, who is a
great nature lover, were delighted
with Highlands, and hope to have
many more pleasant visits here.

tian Endeavor Society enjoyed a
weiner roast at Cliffsid.e Lake last
Monday evening, with swimming
before supper and hymn singing
after supper.

ed Miss Frances Farnsworth and
Miss Catherine Fransvvorth, of
Memphis, Tenn., who were guests
of their uncle, P. T. Farnsworth,
with a swimming party at Cliff
side Lake last Sunday afternoon.
