Homer Stockton ' on Harrison ave nue, for ilic regular monthly busi ness and social meeting. Mrs. Stockton will be assisted in enter taining by Mrs. llarve L. Bryant, Mrs. Derald Ashe and Mrs. l-'erdy Higdon. All members are urged to attend. Mrs. Sam (iorra and Miss Mar tha Ashear, ..of. I'ittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Mary Maloof, of Dubois, l'a., have returned to their homes after being called here to attend the-funeral of their brother,: George N. Ashear. On their return they were accompanied, by their brother, Mitchell Ashear, who will spend several days with them. Karl Hurst, of ICidgecrest, .spent the week-end with his sister; Miss Nettie .Hurst, at her home on Franklin Koine 3. Mrs. Uoyal Sutton, of Decatur, da., is spending several days with her sister, Mrs. J. E. Terry and Air. I'crry at their .home on Har rison avenue. Miss Sarah Conley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Zeb W. Conley, who underwent an operation for the removal of her appendix at Angel hospital last Thursday afternoon, was reported to be domg nicely. : Among the Macon county Meth odists attending the annual Mis sionary Training school in VVaynes ville -Monday were: Rev. and Mrs. 1. Roy Barnard, Allen Ordway and Fred Murray, who spent last week here with their parents; returned Saturday to Norfolk, Va., where they are . stationed in the United States navy. Airs. Alary Downs, who will soon be 93 years old, was brought to Angel hospital on Friday, suffer ing from an infected foot. Her! condition is reported to be satis factory considering her age. "Aunt Alary," as she is .widely known to hundreds of friends throughout the county, is so far as can be learn ed the oldest woman in the couti ly. Mrs. iNorman Mastiuurn is a pa tient in Angel hospital suffering with a broken leg which she re ceived in a fall at her home on last Friday She . is reported by hospital attaches to be getting along very nicely. J. F. Wilkes, of Franklin Route 3, who has been a patient in Angel ho.spital for several weeks, is re ported to be getting along nicely ana expects to be able to return to his home within a few weeks. Airs. Thad Fatten and Airs. Fred Hannah spent Sunday in Alurphy with Airs, l'atton's sister, Airs. Robert Reid and Air. Reid. Monte Sutton spent Friday of the past week in Asheville on busi ness. Ledger B, Shape, who is in the United Mates army stationed at Honolulu, Hawaii, is spending sev eral weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zeb V. Shone, at their litftiie near 1'renliss. Holt l'atton, of Elf, Clay coun ty, spent the first of the week visiting his sister, Alr.s. D. Robert Davis and Air. Davis. Miss Grace Berry, nurse in the Aston Park hospital in Asheville, spent the latter part of the past week visiting her parents, Air. and Airs. Alex Berry at their home on Ellijay and her .sister, Aliss Clyde Berry, at Angel hospital. The Rev. Frank Bloxbam left today for a speaking tour in the north. While away he will address gatherings of church people as a speaker for the National Council of the Protestant Episcopal church in Massachusetts and in New York and vicinity and expects to return to Franklin about February 10. Air. and Airs. Paul Newman, of Winston-Salem, were here last week visiting at the home of Mr. and Airs. W. H. Sellers. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. S. Thoroe will go to Alarshville, Ga., Thurs day, to attend the christening services for Felder Fredrick 111. the small son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Felder, Jr. Ben Guffey, 47, was brought to Angel hospital Sunday suffering with a fractured .skull and lacera- i t ions on his nose and face, which he received , when he was knocked down by a car driven by Ray j Anderson. The accident, which oc- cured on the Georgia (road near the county home, was said to be unavoidable and no charges were placed against Mr. Anderson. Mrs. Hugh Leach has accepted a position as supply teacher of Home Economics of the Waynes viHe high school for the .second term. Her little daughter, Iconise, accompanied' her. A letter to The Franklin Press from Airs. Frank Carmack states, 'We will be in your midst much earlier this year than formerly, as we plan to leave here shortly after March 1st in order to get some building done and some changes made." Siler is spending the winter in New York " with her daughters, Mrs. Alichael D'Onofrio; and the Misses Annie Will and Frieda Siler. ' Miss Geneva Keener has return ed from Mountain City, where she has been staying for a few weeks. Howell Justus is confined to his bed with flu. Frank Corella, from New York, was visiting relatives here Sunday. R. L. Hopkins' children have been very ill with flu, but are improv ing. On account of sickness 'and bad weather, there were no services at Dryman's Chapel Sunday, but Rev.
