KUrth rarilina will aiuia xiv.-- - share speaking honors with J, Mel ville Brougheoti, nominee for Gov ernor, when the Democrats launch their campaign with a three-district rally at Hendensonville on Satur day, September 7. Several weeks ago, at the invi tation of Monroe Redden, county chairman in Henderson, Broughton agreed to head-line the mountain rally and .to officially , start the Democratic campaign in North Carolina. At this time State head quarters in Raleigh will not, how ever, be: officially opened until September 15 but E, B. Denny, who managed the Broughton cam paign for the nomination and who was recently elected State chair- man of the party, will go to Hen dersonville for the opening. Arch T. Allen, one ot tne most prominent young figures in the party, recently named by Chair man Denny as secretary, said to day that the Hendersonville rally would 'be one of the major' events of the 1940 campaign and unique in that it would last from 10:30 in the morning, with an intermis sion for a barbecue lunch, "until all the candidates and notables have 'had a chance to speak." From Washington, in addition to Senators Bailey and Reynolds, will come . Representative Zebulon Weaver, host Congressman of the eleventh, and Representatives Bulwinkle and Doughton. All are veterans and war horses and none unfamiliar with forensic fighting against the Republicans. All candidates for State offices up for election this year and For rest Pollard, president of the State Young Democrats, will be at the Hendersonville rally, Allen said. The speaking will be on the Hen dersonville high school grounds and advance information received by Denny and Allen indicate that more Jhan 10,000 Democrats will attend and hear.
