WALL ON OCTOBER 19 i Ilia engagement of Miss Mar garet Kllene Coad, of Franklin .to. John Oliver Wall, of Elberlon, . Ga., has been anncunced by Mrs. Henry O. Cozad, mother of the bride-elect. The marriage is to be solemnized at high noon on Satur day, October 19, tat the home, Miss Cozad is . the oldest daugh ter of Mrs. Cozad and the late Henry O. Cozad. Her paternal grandparents were Marcus E. Co zad and Mr,. Margaret Stephens Cozad, of Cleveland, Ohio, who came to Western North Carolina in 1900. They were widely known and. prominent in both business and civic affairs in this section. The bride-elect is a graduate, oi the Franklin' high school and of Weaver College,, at Weaverville. She also attended Greensboro Col lege for Women. She has been an active worker in the Primary de partment of the Franklin Metho dist church and in the Young Wo man's Missionary circle of this church. .' Mr. Wall is . the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George N. Wall, of Elberton, Ga., who are prominent in the civic and social life of Elb erton. He is now employed by the United States postal department in that city. MISS RUBY CALLOWAY IS BRIDE OF A. L. WOOTEN Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Calloway announce the marriage of their daughter Ruby Pauline, to A. L. Wooten, Jr., on September 1. The wedding was solemnized at the home of Rev.' Jack Hand in Gainesville, Ga., in the presence of relatives and clvse friends. The couple were attended by Mr1, and Mrs. D. W. Nichols, Jr., of Frank lin. . The bride was attired in a white silk traveling suit with accesories of white. Her corsage was white lilies of the valley and sweet heart roses. .Mrs. Wooteiv is a graduate of the Franklin high school. For the past four years she has been employed by E; K. Cunning ham & Co. M r. Wooten is associated in business with his father in Braden ton, Fla., where the couple will reside. . Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Asa L. Wooten, Sr., parents of the groom and Miss Mary Frances Wooten, sister of the groom. Crunkleton, officiated. Mrs. Snyder, who is the oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs. W. T. v Crocker, was attired in a soldier blue ensemble with navy blue ac . cessories. The couple were attended by Miss Claudine Harden and Jay Tomlin. Mr. Snyder is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Snyder, of Cor nelia, and holds a responsible po sition with the Tallulah Falls Rail way company. Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Snyder took a wedding trip through Tennessee and Kentucky. Sunday school class of the Franklin Baptist church will hold its regular monthly business and social meeting on Tuesday afternoon, October 1, at 3 o'clock, at the home of Miss Nettie Hurst at "Woodhurst Farm." Assisting in entertaining will be Miss Jessie Ramsey, Mrs. Clarence Horsleyand Mrs. Henry D. West. Members are asked to meet at the church at 2:30 o'clock where conveyances will be furnished .to carry them to the home, of Miss Hurst. Mr. and Mrs. Harry S. "Uncle Jim" Deal Attends Shepherd' Deal Reunion James Deal, 91, colored, ex-slave to the Deal family, accompanied by his family, went to Bryson City on Sunday, September 15, to at tend the Deal-Shepherd family re union, held at the home of Mrs, Margie Coleman. "Uncle Jim" as he is widelyr known to his hundreds of white iriends throughout the country, was the oldest member present. He met some of his old friends whom he had not seen in years. Also his son, Walter Deal, who had never been able to attend one of these family gatherings. Approximately 375 guests' were present and a very enjoyable program was given during the day. Mrs. W. M. Sutton spent the first of the week in Hayesville visiting her daughter; Mrs. Her man Ellis and Mr. Ellis.
