McCollum of Franklin. The wedding ceremony Was sol emnized on Saturday evening, Oc tober 6, in Clayton, Ga. Judge K. C. Ramey officiated. The bride was attired in a sol dier blue dress trimmed with brass buttons. She wore black accessaries. Mrs. McCollumn is a graduate cf Young Harris high .school at Young Harris, Ga. She was a stu dent at Georgia State College for Women at Milledgeville, Ga., and a graduate of Drouglion Scliool of Commerce in Atlanta. Mr. McCollum is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. McCcllum, of Franklin, lie is a graduate of the Franklin high school and of Deistl Engineering Scliool in Nashville, Tenn. He is at present employed as salesman in the electrical de partment for the Nantahala Power and Light Company at Andrews. Accompanying Mr. and Mrs! Mc Collum to Clayton were Mr. and Thomas McCollum and Mr. and Mrs. Phil McCollum, brothers of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. McCollum plan to reside in Andrews. The wedding took place in Clayton, Ga., Sunday, Septem ber 22. Mrs. Watkins is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Parker, of Svlva and is a graduate of the Sylva high school. For the past three years she has been employed by the Massie Furniture company in Sylva. , . Mr. Watkins is the .son of Mr. and Mrs. : G. G. Watkins, of Franklin. He is a graduate of the Franklin high school, and at pres ent is employed at the Macon Theatre here. Smith, of Stiles, have announced the mar riage of their daughter, Miss Jean Smith to Paul Whitson, of Knox ville, Tenn. The wedding ceremony was solemnized- in Murphy on Saturday, September 7. .' The bride . wajt attired in a brown crepe costume and wore green accessories. She is. the young est daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. She is a graduate of Droughtons Business college in Knoxville, where she has been em ployed for some time. Mr. Whitson, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs- J. E. Whitson, of Knoxville, is in the individual sales business in that city and surround ing towns. Mr. and Mrs. Whitson will make their home in Knoxville at present. JUNIOR CLASS ELECTS OFFICERS AT HIGH SCHOOL The Junior class of the Franklin high school have elected the fol lowing officers to serve through the coming year. They axe : Helen Edwards, president; Janell Greene, vice-president; Kate San ders, secretary and W. P. Con stance, treasurer. , Bruce Bryant and Sam Gibson, Jr., are represen tatives to the student council. The sponsors are Mrs. Phillip Greene and Win Dorothy Plonk. MISS ROBINSON AND MR. M'GUIRE ARE WED IN CHURCH CEREMONY (From The Charlotte Observer) A brilliant and beautiful wedding and one of outstanding interest to this community was that of Miss Grace Moseley Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith Robinson of Charlotte, and Wil liam Bulgin McGuire, son of Mrs. W. B. McGuire and the late Mr. McGuire of Franklin, which toot place last Thursday evening at St Peter's Episcopal church. The Rev. Willis G. Clark, rector of the ,church, officiated. . The church was decorated with bunks of towering- southern smilax, flank ed with numerous ' tall candelabra. On each side of the steps leading to the chancel, where the betrotal vows were spoken, were massive arrangements of Easter lilies. The bride was escorted by her father, who cave" her in marriage The bridegroom had Marshall Pickens of Charlotte' as his best man.i Miss Polly Robison, only sister of the bride was maid of honor. The bridesmaids included Miss Henriette Minor, Miss Sadie Young, Miss Rebecca Wright, Miss Elizabeth McGuire of Franklin, sis ter of the bridegroom; Miss Lu cretta Martin, of Norfolk, Va., and Miss Elizabeeh Lee. The bride woTe a handsome gown of candlelight satin, square neck with bands of pleated chiffon, long sleeves, and tight fitting bodice, ending in a long train. Part of her ensemble was a panel of exquisite lace that was worn by her maternal great grandmother at her wedding. Immediately after the ceremony a brilliant reception was given at the Charlotte Country club. Later the couple left for a trip south. On their return to Charlotte, they will be at home on Hermitage court. , The bride is the older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robinson. She was graduated at St. Catherine's scliool in Richmond, Va., and after wards attended Smith College at Northampton, Mass., for a year. Later, she graduated from Sweet Briar College, in Virginia. She is a member of the Junior League, the German club, and the Spin ster's club. The bridegroom ' was graduated from Davidson college in 1930 and was president of the senior class, member of Phi Beta Kappa hon orary society, Pi Kappa. Alpha so cial fraternity, and Omicron Delta Kappa leadership fratenrity. He was a first honor man in his grad uating class from Duke University law school in 1933. Since his gradu ation, Mr. McGuire has been on the lawstaff of the Duke Power company" in Charlotte. Franklin guests attending the wedding were Mrs. W. B.
