Fred Cabe, of Franklin, to Curtis Pearson, .son of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Pearson) of Greenville, Ga., and Franklin, The wedding ceremony was sol emnized on Monday . evening at 10.3(3 o'clock at Clarkesville, Ga. judge Frank E. Gabrel, officiated, in the presence of a number of relatives and close friends. The bride is the youngest daugh ter of Mr, and Mrs. Cabe. She is a graduate of the Franklin high School and of the Franklin com mercial school. 1 Mrs. Pearson was attired in an aqua blue dress with navy acces sories. Her shoulder corsage was of gladioli and baby breath. , Mr. Pearson, who came to Franklin about two, years ago is employed by Cagle'.s Cafe. , Accompanying Mr. and Mrs. Pears,on to Clarkesville were Miss Mildred Cabe, sister of the bride, Miss Shirley McCoy, Miss Lena Conley, Miss Ko,sa Lee Kiser, Miss Ada Belle ' Sherrill, David Sutton and Lester Arnold, Mr. and Mrs, Pearson will re side in Franklin. HURST-ELMORE WEDDING IS ANNOUNCED Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Margie Lee Hurst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. joe Hurst, of Leatherrnart tp Theo dore Elmore, son of Mr. and Mrs, Omer Elmore, also of Leathernian. The wedding took place in Clay top, Ga., on Saturday, October 5, with Judge R. C. Rarney perform ing the ceremony. Mr. and -Mrs. Elmore were ac copanied to Clayton by Miss Edna Tallent and Herman Mason. Mr. Elmore is employed at the Bradley Mica company. Mr. and Mrs. Elmore will make their home at Leatherman. HIGDON-SMITH RITES ARE SOLEMNIZED AT CLAYTON Mr. and Mrs. William R. Higdori of Cullasaja announce the marriage of their daughter, Mary Bass, to Leonard S. Smith of Tellico and Rock Hill, S. C. The wedding took place at Clay ton, Ga., on October 5. The bride wore a dress of cadet blue with black accessories. Accompanying the couple to Clayton were Mr. and. Mrs. A. P. Smith of Rock Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Smith of Cullasaja, brothers of the bridegroom. Mrs. Smith is a graduate of Franklin high school, j Mr. Smith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Smith of Tellico. He is at present connected with a construction company in Rock Hill,. ( where the couple will make their home for the present. MISS JEAN MOORE IS BRIDE OF CLARK L. BURRELL Miss Jean Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mb. C. Gordon Moore of Franklin, became ; . the bride of Clark L. Burrell, son of Mr. and Mrs1. H. L. Burrell of Franklin, in a beautiful and simple ceremony immediately following the 11 o'clock service at the Franklin Methodist church last, Sunday. The Rev. Ivon L. Roberts, pastor of the bride, united the pair with the simple ring ceremony in the presence of the congregation and a few invited friends. No atten dants were used. Music was ren dered by Mrs. Henry W. Cabe, church orgapist. ' Mr., and Mrs. Burrell have set up housekeeping in the Mimosa apartment, here, where .they' are now at home to their many friends. celebrate his 92nd birthday anni versary on Sunday, October 20. The first Saturday of November has been designated by the; United Daughters of Confederacy of the North Carolina division as "Flag Day." The members; of this chap ter will sell small confederate flags at this time. Miss Lily Ran kin and Mrs. J. R. . Ray were ap pointed as Flag Day committee. I Mrs. F. L. Siler read a historical article from the United Daughters bulletin about Richmond, Va., which was very interesting. A nominating committee compris ed of Mrs. Lester S. Conley,, cliairinan; Mrsr A. B. Slagle and Miiss Nora Leach were appointed to report at a call meeting on Monday afternoon, October 21, at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs, Church, when officers for the en suing year will be elected.- Mrs. Lester Conley was winner of the prize in the contest held on "Trees." ' The hostess served a delicious salad course at the conclusion of the meeting. Those attended including Mr Sam L. Rogers, Airs. Lon Lamp bell, Mrs. J. R. Ray, Mrs, Church, Mrs. A. B. Slagle, Mrs. F. J, Johnston received a message Wednesday morning tend ing her of the death-of her brother-in-law, George R, Sheldon, of Salt Lake City, Utah. He has beeii an invalid for several mouths:. Uv. i MISS WALDROOP BRIDE OF JAMES M'COY A wedding of widespread social interest was that of Miss Thelma Waldroop, of West Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Franklin to James McCoy, of Long Island, N. y. ' , The ceremony was. solemnized on Saturday, September 28, in the home of Judge Clontz in Stuart, Fla., who officiated, The bride was attired in a cos tume of dusty rose with Copen hagen blue accessories.. Her shoul der corsage was of pink rose buds; Mrs. p. A. Dilleving, a sister of the bride and her only attendant, was dressed in a pink silk jersey dress and white accessories. Mrs. McCoy is the daughter of Mrs.. Grover Lewis and the late Arthur Waldroop, of Franklin Route 1, while Mr. McCoy is the Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed win McCoy of Long Island, N. Y. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Dilleving were the only attendants of the couple. ',--. , Mr. and Mrs. McCoy will be at home at Lake Worth, Fla., where Mr. McCoy is employed with the Ford Motor company. . MISS LAURA JONES BETROTHED TO STEPHEN H. MILLENDER Of interest to her. many friends in this section was the marriage of Miss Laura Lyle Jonas, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Lyle Jones of -Asheville, to Stephen H. Mill ender of Mebane, at the home of the bride's parents at high noon last Thursday. The Ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. C. Cravner in the presence of members of the two families. Wedding music was per formed by Miss Mary Brooks, pianist, and Miss Mary Lou Kirby, violinist. . . The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her wedding- dress wvas made of delphinium blue vel vet with a veil caught back by a cornet. She carried a bouquet of shell pink roses. Mrs. Franz T. Stone of Colum bus, Ohio, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Dr. Charles. White Millender of Asheville served as "best man for his brother. For her wedding trip, the bride wore a taupe silk dress with a gold kid belt, a hat of an autumn shade of red and a corsage of talisman roses. . Mrs. Millender is an alumna of Converse college. She has made a hoist of acquaintances here on her frequent visits to Franklin. A graduate of the University of North . Carolina, Mr, Millender is the son of Dr. and Mrs, M. C. Millender of Asheville. At present he is connected with the White Furniture company of Mebane,. where the couple will reside. F. S, JOHNSTON CLASS TO MEET WITH MRS. BESHEARS The F. S.
