THE FRANKLIN PRESS AND THE HIGHLANDS MACON IAN THURSDAY. OCTOBER 31, U40 PACE TWO iiiiMMMMMMiiiMMii- The Brain Trust is trying hard to fool you But Just Think: HOW CAN YOU GET SOCIAL SECURITY WHEN MORE THAN 40 BILLION DOLLARS HAS ALREADY BEEN SPENT AND NOT EVEN 10 COLLECTED AND NO WAY TO COLLECT IT? It is really a thing to get alarmed about and to get action on right now. Figures don't lie. The Roosevelt faction promises you checks every month for your old age. Payments haw already started but look around in your own neighbor hood and see for yourself just how many actual and deserving cases are in your community that do not receive one ce" old age pension. Then look at those that are receiving it. Sum up the situation for yourself. Enough money has been paid in to enable all deserving cases to participate and receive their share. THINK TWICE A no? BEFORE YOU Americans! vote your RIGHTS AWAY. The men who planned our Great American Re public assured to us individual rights which h a ve made the people free and America a great nation These Essential Rights Are: THE RIGHT TO worship as we please. educate our children as we please, read the newspapers that we choose to read, print in the newspapers what we wish to say. meet together for free discussion. The American Form of uovernment Guarantees: TO THE HOME freedom from any form of government in terference except under due process of law. TO THE FAMILY-the right to own property houses, farms, equip ment, automobiles, etc TO THE PEOPLE the right to be FREE. . Are the Rights of the American People Safe in the Hands of the New Deal? THE NEW DEAL, for eight years, HAS DELIBERATELY CON TROLLED AND REGULATED the productive forces in America. THE NEW DEAL NOW OWNS AND OPERATES over 225 dif ferent line of business IN COMPETITION WITH PRIVATE EN TERPRISE. THE DICTATOR NATIONS BEGAN by regulating and controlling all industry. They NOW regulate and control the earnings, the lib erties and the lives of their people. The President by Virtue of his O f f i c e has Confidential Information From the Entire World at his Hand. The President Knew how strong Germany was how weak France was-HOW DEFENSELESS AMEW Why Did He Not Take T h e American People Into His Confidence? June 4th, 1940 when the British evacuated Dunkirk he told the people that he saw no reason vital to National Defense why Congress should stay in session. f V June 11th, 1940 with the Germans at the Marne and Italy in the war, he again told the people that the Congress should adjourn and leave him to deal with the situations as they arose. BUT THE PEOPLE SPOKE AND CONGRESS STAYED IN SES SION TO SPEED OUR AMERICAN DEFENSE. Why have we today no Chairman of our Vitally Important Advisory Defense Commission? BECAUSE the President demands fur ther control and puts Personal Power Ahead of Our Country's Defense. SHALL WE RISK THE LIVES OF OUR PEOPLE AND THE SAFETY OF OUR COUNTRY BY GIVING THE NEW DEAL A THIRD TERM? A Third Term Means One Man Government ELECT WENDELL WILLKIE TO BUILD A STRONG AMERICA OIF ARE BETTER WHY DO RELIEF EXP UPWARD? They tell you times are better, more people working and in most instances wages increased. The war is on and we are preparing, yet the Government Pay Roll for soft jobs is by far the largest in the history of the country or for that matter in the world. Literally millions of people are working for the government and in most instances doing nothing to advance themselves. Lay them all off for thirty days and you would see the greatest Chaos this country has ever known. Now in closing are conditions better for the working man. Answer that question by thinking. The government has employed millions, millions are on relief and still the unemployed question faces the country. We are already overspent toy Billions, we are no better off in unemployment that faces the country and being on .the verge of possibly another war shouldn't we put a business man in office. One whose realization of the facts prompted him to sacrifice a huge salary and offer himself to the people. THIS AD PAID FOR BY DEMOCRATS VOTING FOR WILLKIE AND THE REPUBLICANS OF MACON COUNTY
