Meeting Saturday
Mrs. L. B. Nichols, of Andrews,
was elected chairman of the an
nual group conference of the Aux
iliaries of the Presbyterian churches
of District , No. 3, at a meeting
held with the local church here
Saturday.
Mrs. C. W. Savage, of Murphy,
retiring chairman, presided over the
meeting. Following the registration,
music and opening service, Mrs.
Gus Leach welcomed the delegates.
The response was made by Mrs.
T. C. Gray, of Hayesville.
The Rev. J. A. Flanagan was. in
charge of the worship services.

Stewardship Study,' Intensive Bible

was presented by Mrs. J. A. Flan
agan,' Mrs. Ben McGlamery, Mrs.
J. Ward Long, Miss Elizabeth
McGuire and Ann Flanagan.
Soecial vocal music was given
by Mrs. Elmer Crawford and Miss
Helen Moore.
Mrs. K. D. Bedinger, of Ashe
ville, made a talk on 'Continuing
the Evangelistic Crusade."
A luncheon was served at the
Tavern 'to the 50 or more ladies at
tending from Murphy, Bryson City,
Hayesville, Andrews and nigh
lands. '
The next meeting will be held
at the Presbyterian church in
Hayesville. : 1

Rev. J. C. Swaim Returned
To Macon Circuit
The congregations of the Meth
odist churches of the Macon cir-i
cuit and , many, other friends are
rejoicing that Rev. J.. C. Swaim
has been returned by . the recent
conference for a fourth year of
service. During the past three years
Mr. Swaim has endeared himself
to his people and done a fine,
constructive work.
Besides serving his churches; well
he has directed the following im
provements on the circuit: Elec
tric lights and other improvements
at Patton's Chapel ; improvements
on the Maiden church and grounds,
and Mt. Zion church.
A new church is almost completed
at Asbury. Shrubbery has been
planted at Union church and the
belfry .rebuilt at Mulberry:
A water system and bathroom
have Been installed in the par
sonage, and many other minor ad
ditions have improved the church
property. The congregations are
looking forward to another profit
able year under Mr. Swaim's pas
torate. ' ... .
