The play has been in rehearsal for the past month under the di rection of Miss Sophie Albert, as sisted by Miss Dorothy Plonk, Miss Helen Moore and Girl scout leaders. Emphasis this year has been placed on better individual performances.: Due to the increased number of Girl Scouts, a number ' of changes and special numbers have been added to' the play. One of the new specialties, planned and costumed by Mrs. T. W. Angel, Jr., is the Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy skit, played by Frances Thomas and Ann Lyle, respectively. D12-ltc Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Lou Shepherd Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Shepherd, 90, were held at her home at Leatherman on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. W. L. Bradley, a Bap tist minister of the Oak GroVe community ' and former pastor of the deceased, officiated. He was assisted by the 1 Rev. Paul Shep herd, a grandson, of Sylva. Inter ment was in the Shepherd family cemetery. . Mrs. Shepherd, : widow of John Shepherd, died suddenly on Wed nesday morning about 7 o'clock at her home at Leatherman. She had apparently been in good health for her age and her passing was unexpected. She was a daughter of the late James B. and Katherine Shepherd Dalton, and a member of the Lib erty Baptist church. The pallbearers were six grand sons. They were Edgar Dalton, Arlen Bradley; Pratt Dalton, Olin Bradley, Lloyd Shepherd and Wil lard Bradley. 11 Surviving are eight children,: six daughters, Mrs. Will Holbrooks, of Leatherman- Mrs. G. B. Dalton and Mrs. E. V. Hurst, of Gas tonia; Mrs. Walter H. Dalton. of Leatherman ; Mrs. Will Bradley, of Etna; and Miss Mae Shepherd, of Leatherman; two sons, Thomas Shepherd, of Sylva, and Luther Shepherd, of Leatherman; one sis ter, Mrs. James Jacobs, of Gas tonia; 40 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. WiH Meet At High School Here Monday The regular meeting of the Franklin Parent-Teacher associa tion will be held at the high school here next Monday,- December 16, at 3:30 p. m., Mrs. Lola P. Bar- rtngton, chairman of the program committee, announced this week. Elementary teachers in the Franklin school will be hostesses at the meeting. All parents and teachers are cordially invited to attend. The program will open with devotional period, led by the Rev Philip L. Green. J. J. Mann, vice president of the local education association, will speak on "The Relationship of the Parent to the School," following which the group will sing Christmas carols, led by Mr. Green. The Macon Supply was located in the Bank of Franklin building until its destruction by fire a few weeks ago. . The theatre building has been completely remodeled to form a modern store. Counters and shelves were installed earlier in the week and the process of moving and arranging stock begun. Mr. Bryant said that he hoped to have the store opened for busi ness Saturday, if possible.
