CONLEY, PHONE 104 BAPTIST MINISTERS MEET MONDAY The Macon County Ministers' Convention will meet on Monday morning, February 3, at 10:30 o'clock at the Franklin Baptist church for their regular monthly conference. All ministers in the county are urged to be present. LEE-JACKSON TEA LOVELY AFFAIR ' A very lovely affair was the Lee-Jackson silver tea given on Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Herbert, E. Church on Han risou avenue, sponsored by tht Macon county Chapter of the United Daughters of Confederacy. The dining room table was over laid with a lovely Chinese hand embroidered cloth, with a group of miniature American flags in the center outlined with lighted red, white and blue tapers in1 silver holders. Russian tea, cakes, mits and mints, in the red, white and blue color,, were served. Mrs. George M. Slagle poured tea and was as sisted in serving by Mrs. J. Ward Long, Mrs. Lon Campbell and Mrs. Zeb W. Conley. Mrs. J. R. Ray was in charge of the registration book and the guests were 1 received by Mrs. Church. Mr. and Mr& Luther Dills and Berlin Pruitt, of White Plains, N. Y., are spending several days in Franklin and Macon county vis iting relatives and friends. Mark Owenby of Flats, who had recently two .- operations at the Angel clinic is able to be up. Joe Shope, who has been work ing in Bridgeport, N. J., for sev eral months, is visiting his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shope, at their home near Otto. ' Clarence Brooks of Franklin, underwent an operation at the Angel clinic this; week. Sam Parker, of . Denver, Colo., is visiting his sister, Mrs. - Alex ander Young at her home at Mountain Grove, L. S. Patterson of Leatherman who recently underwent an opera tion at the Angel clinic is report ed improving. , Miss Katherine Crispe, beauti cian in Esther's Beauty Shop, is spending her vacation in eastern Carolina and Baltimore, Md., with relatives and friends. . Mrs. H. O. Cozad is spending several days in Elberton, Ga., vis iting her daughter, Mrs. John O. Wall and Mr. Wall. ' Miss Ruth Higgins, a student at Brenau College at . Mrs. Joe Palmer, who has been ill for the past week with influenza, is reported to be improved. Miss Dorothy Lee Morrison has returned to Woman's College at I lie University of North Carolina, at Greensboro, after a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James K. Morrison at their home near Jotla bridge. Joe Dalton of Leathertnan, is a patient at Angel' clinic. Hugh Anderson, of Twin Falls, Idaho, is here for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. And erson, at their home on Harrison avenue. Mrs. J. D. Porter, of Bryson City, spent Wednesday here with Jier motlier, Mrs. W. J. Zachary end sisterk Mrs. Harry S. Higgins. LeRoy Morrison, of Winston Salem,' visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Morrison at their home on Oak Grove the first of the week.
