Van B. Metts, state director .of selective service, declared today. ''.' In all cases local boards and government appeal agents must make every effort to insure pro tection of the registrant's right of appeal regardless of whether or not they think the appeal is, justi fied, he asserted.' Any registrant who it dissatis fied with a determination of his local boars may appeal the decision to the board of appeals and no one has legal power to interfere with his efforts to get a reyiew of liis case. . Citing Selective Service. Regula tions relating to appeals, the Direc tor pointed put that a registrant, any person who claims to be a dependent of a registrant, or any person who has filed written evi dence of the occupational necessity of the registrant, may appeal from any load board classification. . Pointing out that the registrant , or his dependents must' appeal Within 10 days after mailing of the registrant's notice of classification (unless the time is extended), the Director outlined the provisions of the Regulations on how an appeal is taken, as follows : "Any perso,n entitled to do so may appeal , in either of the fol lowing ways: "(1) By filing with the local board a written notice of appeal. Such notice need not be in any particular form but must' .state the name of the registrant and the name and identity of the person appealing so as to show the right of appeal. "(2) By signing the 'Appeal to Board of Appeal' on the Question naire (Form 40)." The person appealing may at tach to his notice of eppeal, or . to his questionaire, a statement .specifying the respects in which he believes the local board erred ; may direct attention to any information in the registrant's file which he believes the local board has failed to consiser. or give sufficient weight; and may set out in full any evidence which was offered to the local board and which . the local board failed or refused to include in the registrant's file.
