STAR ENTERTAINED
AT DINNER
The Past Matrons of Nesquassa'
Chapter No. 43, Order of the East
ern Star, was the guests at dinner
Monday evening at Kelly's Tea
Room, of Mrs. W. H. Sellers, Mrs
W. T. Moore and Miss Lassie
Kelly.
During the evening plans were
made to have a Past Matrons'
Club with a supper-meeting once
every three- months. A contest was
held and the prize went to Mrs.
R. M. Rimmer.
The following officers were elect
ed to serve for a year: Mrs; W,
T. Moore, president ; Mrs. W. H.
Sellers, vice-president . and Miss
Lassie Kelly, secretary and treas
urer.
The following past matrons were
present: Mrs. R. M. Rimmer, Mrs.

Dawdle -were quietly ' married at
Clayton, Ga., Thursday, October 16,
by Judge R. C. Ramey.
Mrs. Dowdle was: attired in a
lovely blue dress with matching
accessories. Her corsage was of
red, white and hlue fall flowers.
Mrs. Dowdle is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Shope of Dil
lard, Ga. Route 1. She has, been
employed for the past two years
at the McClure Roller Mill Lodge.
Mr. Dowdle is the son of. Mrs!
G. C. Dowdle and the late Mr.
DovrtJle of Diflard; Ga.-Roitte 1.
He is a graduate of the Rabun
Gap Nacoochee School. They were
accompanied to Clayton by Mr, and
Mrs. Leonard Myers.

week, D. W. Allen from Olympia,
Wash. His second visit home in

The Macon county zone meeting
of the Woman's Society of Chris
tian Service of the Methodist
church will be held at the Union
church on Wednesday, November
5," beginning at 1:30 a. m., accord
ing to an announcement by Mrs.
Fred Slagle, zone chairman.
The object of the meeting is to
conduct a training or coaching day,
and all members as wejl as' offi
cers and chairmen of committees
are urged to attend. The session
will close at ,noon with lunch.

ing of the western counties at the
Hayesville Presbyterian church
Saturday, October 25. Those at
tending were Mrs. J. J. Gray, Mrs.
J. S. Gray, Mr. Blanche Bulgin,
Mrs. Brabson Bulgin, Mfs. George
BfowR Mrs. Pearl Wright, Mrs.
Wilson Smart, Rev. and Mrs. Hu
bert Meadow. The last three men
tioned took part on the program.

WEDS LEMMIE HOUSTON
Announcement of the marriage
of Miss Alberta McCall and Lem
mie. Houston was made by Mr. and
Mrs. Sam R. McCall last Sunday.
The ceremony was solemnized in
Claytony Ga., Sunday afternoon,
October 26, 1941 by Judge Ramey.
The bride was attired in a sky
blue dress with black accessories.
She is a graduate of the High
lands school and has been, em
ployed there for the last year.
Mr. and Mrs. Houston plan to
leave for Utah, and will make their
future' home there. In the mean
time they are spending a few days
with the groom's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. M. A. Houston at Gneiss.
They were accompanied to Geor
gia by Miss Velma Holland and
Euell Owens.

Franklin, is seriously ill at Angel
clinic where she underwent an op
eration recently.
Miss Christine Dills of. Gneiss,
underwent an operation at Angel
clinic Saturday. Her condition is
satisfactory.
Mr. a,nd Mrs. J. C. Turner were
called to Atlanta last week on ac
count of the death of Mr. Turn
er's sister, Mrs. J. C Bowden.
Mrs. Lonie J. Goss and small
daughter, Linda,v left Sunday for
their home in Roanoke, Va., after
spending the sounmer here.
Mrs. Ruby Tessier has returned
from a trip through the West
where she visited her children in
Idaho, Washington and Louisiana.
Toe Palmer has been confined
at his home with sickness for the
past two weeks. He is reported
much improved.
Mrs. Clarence Goss and Miss
Dorothy Wheeler of Roanoke, Va.,
spent the weekend here as guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Rochester.
Mr. Jim Young who is working
in Charlotte, visited Mrs. Young
at the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. C T. Blaine, over the
weekend.

AT OTTO SCHOOL
A Hallowe'en Carnival is being
staged at the Otto School at 7 :30
Friday,. October 31. Carrying out
the spirit of Hallowe en there will
be cake walks, a box supper, games
and pranks and fortune telling for
entertainment. There will be cold
drinks, cakes, candy and boxes for
sale.

Teachers college motion pictures
at the Otto school. Oro alternating
Mondays beginning an educational

cational feature will be presented
for the public.
This is a step in progressive ed
