MACON BOY TAKES PART JN ARMY MANEUVERS Private, 1st class, William Roger Deal, son of the late J. 13. Deal and Mrs. Deal of Franklin Route 1, joined the U. S. Army when he was only 17, on January 8, 1932. He belongs to the 4th Division 22nd Infantry which has taken an important part in the Carolina ma neuvers. This Division is called "The Rolling Fourths," WEAVER HURST HAPPY .IN HAWAII Private Weaver 'M. Hurst has recently written his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Huns-t of West's Mill, that he is well satisfied in Honolulu, Hawaii, where 'he is serving with a heavy artillery divi sion along with several other Ma con boys who went to Fort Bragg on June 4, and who were sent to gether to San Diego and then to Hawaii. He is in charge of shoot ing a 6-in cannon, and also has a smaller gun for close shooting, he' writes. "We are now living in tents, so that we don't have any floors to scrub,", writes Weaver. He thinks it is the prettiest country he has ever see,n. He wrote of the ill ness of another Macon boy, Carl Alexander Gibson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gibson of Cullasaja, who was found unconscious from a clot on the brain, probably caus ed from a blow on the head. He was sent to the hospital, and will be sent home as soon as he is able to take the trip. Carl Wayne Jones is also with this toutfit. ' WILSON M. LEDFORD IN AIR CORPS AT KEESLER FIELD Wilson M. Ledford who has been stationed at Ford McPherson, Ga., has been transferred to Keesler Field, Biloxi, Miss. He is in the Air Corps, where he has enlisted for a period of three1 years. WILLARD B.
