SUPPORT OF PRAYER MEETINGS URGED The Wednesday evening union prayer meeting, begun last week at the Methodist church, will be held irs rotation at the various churches here. This week the meet ing was held at the Baptist church. In speaking of the union prayer service, Rev. H. T. Bridgman, pas tor of the Presbyterian church, ex pressed the hope that it will have the support of the community. GOOD SEASON FORECAST BY HARVEY TRICE Mr. and Mrs. J. Harvey Trice of Thomasville, Ga., are .spending several weeks at their cottage oni hast Main street before opening lrtcemont Terrace for the sum mer. Mr. Trice predicts a good seaso.ii for hotels and states that he has already received inquiries for summer reservations from a widely scattered territory, with a great many from California, as well as others from Texas, Oklahoma and Ohio. BAPTIST REVIVAL SERVICES TO -BEGIN NEJT SUNDAY Rev. J. G. Benfield, pastor of Highlands Baptist church, lias an nounced the beginning of a ten day revival meeting at this church on Sunday morning, April 26th. Guest preacher will be the Rev. J. C. Pipes of Asheville, and serv ices through next week will be held at 8 o'clock each evening. Rev. and Mrs. Pipes will be guests of Che Benfields. Designated By Governor Broughton For May 4-9 Political Announcements RALEIGH, April 20. May 4 has been designated as War Bond Week by Governor J. . Melville Broughton who has issued a pro clamation calling upon all citizens of the State to sign voluntary pledges during that period to set aside a portion of their income for the regular purchase of war saving bonds and stamps. The campaign will be conducted throughout the State under the di rection of the Defense Saving Staff of the -United States Treas ury, of which Charles H. Robert son of Greensboro is State Admin istrator. Julian Price of Greens boro is State Chairman of the campaign. Plans for the pledge-signing, which will be on a voluntary basis and for such amounts as the indi vidua may designate, were per tected at a meeting of county chairmen wi Greensboro last Tues day.
