Conley of Macon, Georgia, formerly of Frank lin, announce the marriage of their daughter, Lena, to Lester L. Arn old of Franklin, on Saturday, May 2, 1942. The ceremony was performed at the Baptist Pastorium in Franklin with the Rev. C. F. Rogers using the double ring ceremony. The bride was attired in a rose plaid suit with brown and white ac ce,ssories Mr. and Mrs. Arnold were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grant. Mrs. Arnold is a graduate of the Franklin High School and Franklin Commercial School. For a num ber of years she was bookkeeper for the Franklin Hardware Com pany before going to the offices of the Nantahala Power and Light Company, where she is now em ployed. Mr. Arnold is the son of Mr. and Mr.s. O. C Arnold, of Cullsaja, and is also a graduate of Franklin High School and Athens Business College, Athene, Georgia In 1938 Mr. Arnold was elected Register of Deeds of Macon County and served in that capacity until Janu ary 3rd of this year when he en listed in the V. S. Navy. He is now stationed at the Naval Air Base in Jacksonville, Florida. After a short wedding trip in Georgia, Mrs. Arnold returned- to her home in Franklin and Mr. Arnold returned to his station in Jacksonville. LIEUT. M'CLURES ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mrs. Benjamin Wiley Gettys of Dugoff and Columbia announces the engagement of her daughter, Martha Team, and Lieut. WELLS-BALDWIN I Mr. and Mrs. Harley Baldwin of Franklin, have announced the mar . riage of their daughter, Olotta to I John D. Wells, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Wells, also of Frank lin. They were married in Clayton, Ga. May 12. After a short wedding tfip through Georgia, they are now making their home in New Port News, Va., where Mr. Wells is employed. RAY-AMMONS Mr. and Mrs. Alex Amnions of Ellijay, announce the marriage of their daughter, Emma Jean, to Rob ert Ray, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ray of Franklin. The ceremony was solemnized in Clayton, Ga., Thursday afternoon, May 14. The young' couple was accompanied by the bride's sister, Hazel Ammons of Ellijay, and Joe Palmer of Franklin. The bride wore a light blue dress with matching accessories. They are making their home for the present with the groom's par ents. Personal Mention Mr. and Mrs. John Young of Athens, Ga., visited Mr. Young's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Young of Franklin Route 2, last weekend. Kenneth L. Young, son of Mj-. and Mrs. J. L. Young, has been transferred to Akron, Ohio, from Mansfield, Ohio, where he has been employed for the past year. Lieut. O. O. Dean and Mrs. Dean of the Naval Air Base, Jackson ville, Fla., are visiting Mrs. Dean's sister, and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Hoover at the Coweta Experiment Station at Otto. Homer Greene of Atlanta, came home to attend his sister, Janell's, graduation. Both of them are now visiting relatives in Canton. iReid Cabe, of Richmond, Va., son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Cabe of Franklin, Route 2, has returned to his home after a visit of sev eral weeks to his parents. Mr. Cabe has been convalescing fj-om May 23rd, a recent operation, and reported that his native land bad done wonders for him during his brief rest here. "It was the only medi cine I needed' he said. Mrs. I. T. Peek who has been visiting her- daughters, Mrs. Ray Swanson, Mrs. Bill Bryson and Mrs. Prelo Dryman for several weeks will leave Saturday for Wil mington to rejoin Mr. Peek. She will be accompanied by Mrs. Bill Bry.son who will spend a week with her parents there. Mrs. W. R. Pressley of Frank lin, spent the weekend with her daughter, Mrs. O. V. Mincey of Bryson City. Mrs. Pressley was accompanied back to Franklin by her granddaughter, Sue Mincey. Rev. Joseph A. Bryson, brother of Mrs. John Moore, retuptted to his home in Columbia, Mo., after a visit with relatives in Macon coun ty. Mr. and Mrs. John M. Farrar and little daughter Barbara Jane have moved to Harlan, Ky., where Mr. Farrar, who has been in the bookkeeping department of the Nantahala Power and Light com pany, will take a position with a coal company. John Peck, formerly with the company on the Glenville Nantahala project will take Mr. Farrar's place in the Franklin of fice. Robert Tallent left for Durham this past week where he has been employed in defense work. Mrs. Mack Franks will operate Frank's Radio Shop in the absence of her husband who will leave .shortly for Camp Evans, Belmar, N. J., to take a position as Senior Radio Mechanic. Births Mr. and Mrs. J. Cunningham of Franklin announce the birth of a daughter, Brenda Jamell, on May 6. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hawkins, of Cashiers, a son, Carle- ton Ray, My 10.
