A birthday dinner was given to
Mrs. Callie Emory in honor of
her 68th birthday at" her home
Saturday, August 22. Those at
tending were her daughter, Mrs.
Andrew Reeves, Mr. and Mrs.
Dick Waters and family, Miss
Virginia Teague of Charlotte and
M iss Alma Reeves. This was a
delightful occasion enjoyed by
all. Mrs. Emory received many
birthday gifts.

care. She is employed in the
ilelmqnit Throwing plant where
nyloin, rayon and celanese is pro
cessed for the manufacture of
parachute strings. Miss Teague
has the responsible, job of "re
drawing" the product, which is
testing its perfection and detect
ing flaws before it is judged safe
for attaching to the parachutes.

The Welch Family reunion was
held at the Rose Creek Baptist
church, on August 10. The ser
mon was preached by Rev. J. O.
Summerl'in of Marshall, and there
was special singimg by the choir
and Ralph West, The warm fel
lowship and good dinner were en
joyed by all. Mrs. Virgie Brown
was a welcome visitor. She lives
in Olympia, Washington, and this
is her first visit home in 39 years.
The next meeting will be held
at Burningtown church in 1943.
