FRANKLIN, N. C.
One hundred and thirty million Americans are facing one of the most im
portant assignments ever given to the home front in this nation's wartime history . . .
To meet America's increasingly critical shortage of raw materials, every man, wo
man and child in the country is expected to be enrolled in the nationwide drive for
scrap metals, rubber, hemp, waste cooking fats and other materials, the lack of which
is already beginning to hamper the war effort.
Macon people want to do their share in this, as in every other war effort. All
over the county scrap is being collected.
ATTENTIONiFRANKLIN CITIZENS
