T. B. Enloe, Weil-Known Citizen, Passes Thursday Funeral services for Thomas Bascom Enloe. 88. were hold at the Maiden's Chapel Methodist phurch on Upper Cartoogechaye on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. V. N. Allen, pastor, officiating, assist ed by the Rev. J. F. Marchman, pastor of the Franklin Baptist church. Interment was ih the church cemetery. Mr. Enloe, a life-long resi dent of Macon county died very suddenly .and unexpectedly at his home on Thursday night at midnight, although he had oeen in declining health for a num ber of months. Mr. Enloe, who was the son of the late Lucius and Mary Roane Enloe, had taught in the public schools in Macon county for several years and later de voted his time to farming and raising livestock. In his latter years he opened a dairy. He was married to the former Miss Clara Allman, who preceded him in death six years ago. The pallbearers we.re A. B. Slagle, Ras Penland, Carl S. Slagle, Henry W. Cabe, Frank Reece. Burnell Waldroop, Har old Brookshire and Arthur Pan nell. Surviving is one daughter, Miss Irene Enloe, of Franklin route I, and three sons, Turner and Chalmer Enloe, ol Frank lin route 1, and Albert Enloe, of Akron, Ohio; three brothers, Jeff Enloe, Franklin route 1, Charlie Enloe, of Blairsville, Ga.. and Bill Enloe, of Tulsa, Okla., five sisters, Mrs. E. J. Bidwell, of Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Minnie Reed, Springfield. Mass., and Misses Lute, Ida and Nan Enloe. of Atlanta, Ga. Bryant funeral directors were in charge of the arrangements. S. 1/C Edgar N. Guffey and Mrs. Guffey have returned home from Deland, Fla., and will spend a 15 day leave with Mr. Guffey's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Guffey. Mr. Guffey has been in the armed forces , for the past two years. He has. a brother, John, serving in the Ninth Army in Germany. Hill Highlands Resident, Died Friday, May 11 Funeral services for Mrs. Frank H. Hill, 85, who died I Friday. May 11 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Norris, in Horse Cove Valley, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence, with the Rev. J. B. Davidson, pastor of the Highlands Presbyterian church, of which she was a member, and the Rev. W. T. Medlin, Jr., pastor of the Methodist church in charge. Burial was in the Hill cemetery in Horse Cove. Pallbearers were S. C. Russell, W. H. Cobb, C. J. Anderson, W. R. Potts, Daniel Edwards, F B. Cook, T. N. Hall, F A. Edwards and Thomas Picklesimer. Mrs. Hill was the daughter of t'he late Dr. Chlarles L. Frost of Highlands and Mary Stevens Frost of Virginia. She was born in Sacramento, Calif., In 1860, her father having left his med ical practice in New York to join the throngs of people who turned westward during the days of the California gold | rush. Dr. Frost was one of the I charter members and organiz- 1 ers of the Union Pacific Rail way Co., in San Francisco, and was for many years closely identified with the early devel opment of California. Following his wife's death in 1868, Dr. Frost returned to his old home in New York, where Mrs. Hill spent her girlhood. She was graduated from Quaker College Friends Academy, Locust Valley, L. I., a college built and en dowed by her uncle, Gideon Frost. She came to Highlands in 1879 and was married to FranK h. mil in i?au. j Mrs. Hill spent the greater part of her life in Horse Cove, I where she endeared herself to | her neighbors and friends, tak i ing the greatest interest in everything pertaining to the de velopment of the country which had become her home. Her love and loyalty to the mountains and to the people were out standing. She was a musician of great ability and an ardent lover of nature and of all things beautiful. In the early 1900's Mrs. Hill organized the first Sunday school in Horse Cove' in which she maintained a deep interest up to the time of her illness three years ago. Besides her husband, Mrs. Hill is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. J. Norris of Highlands and Atlanta, Mrs. W. P. Sloan, Highlands, a son Harry Hill, Wilmington, and one brother, Charles Frost of California. Four children preceded her in death, Leonard Frost Hill, John Hoyt Hill, Stanhope W. Hill and an infant daughter, Mary Hill. Survivors also include the fol lowing grandchildren: Mrs. John C. Flippin, Memphis, Tenn.; I Mrs. L. S. Troops from High lands, Sylva, West's Mill, Qualla and Franklin will attend. All parents of scouts and others interested in the Boy Scout movement are urged to be pres ent at some time during the meet. Outdoor games were played during the afternoon and Patsy Neal was winner in the contest. The birthday cake was pret tily decorated with "Happy Birthday" and the four light ed candles.
