MINISTERIAL GROUP MEETS Officers For Coming Y?lr Named By Baptiat Association The Macon County Baptist Ministerial association met in Highlands Frkliy of last week for Its regular conference and to elect officers for the cauPT ing year. ^ Following lumjUf/which was served byjUj^hostess church, the Rev. n. Carter, pastor "of the Highlands church, was elected moderator protem. The devotional was given by the Rev. O. E. Scruggs. The following officers were elected: Rev. Thorn N. Carter, president; the Rev. H. E. March banks, vice-president; the Rev. W. C. #"ipes. secretary and treasurer; and the Rev. G. E. Scruggs, the Rev. C. C. Welch and the Rev. Norman E. Holden, program committed. It was decided that the meet ings will open at noon, and, fol lowing lunch, which will always be served by ladles of the hos tess churches, the program will consist of the devotional, 15 minutes in business confer ences; 15 minutes in open for um, and the sermon. The meet ings will adjourn at 2 o'clock. Funeral For Joteph Hopkins Held At Dryman Chapel kins, 70, were he _ I afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Dryman Chapel ..cthoclist church. The R*v. V N. Allen, pastor, officiated, an -burial followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Hopkins diec ut his home ne%r Otlo early Saturday morn trig, following a lengthy illness. A farmer, Mr. Hopkins was born October 18, 1868. H^ had been a^> member of the Coweta Baptist church for the past 30 years. 'The pallbearers "were Lon Henson, Hoyt Vinson, James Buchanan, Lem Cabe, Kenneth Buchanan and Max Buchanan. Surviving are his widow and 11 children, Raleigh, Essie, Ida, Walter, Albert, Tom, Emma. Roy, Jeff, Ruby and Grady. Two brothers, Samuel Hopkins, of Franklin, and Mart Hopkins, of South Carolina, and 17 grand children also survive. Potts funeral directors were in charge of arrangements. p The next meeting will be held at the Mt. Hope Baptist church Monday, February 18, and the sertnon is scheduled to be de livered by the Rev. A daughter, Enia Jackleen, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Hodgins, of the Gneiss commun ity on December 17, at the Angel hospital. On Friday. December 21, a son, Belty Ray, wa? born to Mr. and Mrs, D, M, Wyke, of Whit tier at the Angel hospital. Twin daughters, Jo Ann and Barbara Ann, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Marion Cagle, of the West's Mill community, at the Angel hospital on December 22. Mr. and Mrs. Willard R. Pen dergrass announce the birth of a son, Williard Randolph, at the Angel hospital, on Sunday, De cember 30. A son, William Norwell, was born on Sunday, December 30, to Mr. and Mrs. William N. Grimm, of Franklin, at the An gel hospital. A daughter, Wanda Joyce, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tyler, of Cullasaja, at the Angel hos pital on Thursday, January 3. Barnard were here for her fu neral services Sunday: Misses Ruth and Amelia Poindexter, Mrs. Clifton Swafford, and R. li. Poindexter, Jr., all of Char lotte; Miss Inez P. West of Brevard; and Miss Violet Barn ard of Asheville. Also here for the funeral was Miss Margaret Keener, of Asheville. Carlos Rogers has been dis charged from the army, and is back home with his wife, the former Miss Vera Barnard. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Camp bell have been visiting Mr. Campbell's mother, Mrs. Ella Campbell. Mr. Slsk, who recenty was dis charged from the armed forces, spent three and one-half years In the armed forces, 13 months of this time In the South Pa cific. He is a graduate of Oup ton-Jones College of Mortuary science in Nashville, Tenn. He also Is a graduate of the Toc coa High school, Toccoa, Oa.
