Symphony's Program Not Strictly 'Highbrow' The concerts of the North Carolina symphony, which is scheduled to appear here April 2 on its spring tour, will not be strictly "highbrow", the board of directors of the organization has announced. The programs have been ar ranged with a view to" appeal ing to persons of almost every musical taste, beginning with such numbers as "Deep Purple" and going all the way to the great symphonies of Johannes Brahms. The task of the North Caro lina Symphony is to furnish music which will appeal to the independant tastes of a critical musical public, tastes which cover a wide range of interests. There are some who will not be content with anything but the most lofty musical master pieces from the great compos ers, and for these the State Symphony has chosen the Brahms' First Symphony, the New World Symphony of Dvor ak, the Handel "Water Music", and other such numbers. Also included will be Sme tana's beautiful tone poem, "The Moldau". and Haydn's popular Military symphony. But the orchestra also will play excerpts from the "Grand Canyon Suite", by the American composer, Ferde Grofe, especial ly the well-known "On the Trail," in which the sound of the donkey's hoofs on the trail Beautiful Certified BOXWOODS For Sale ANY SIZE Price 50 Cents to $25.00 Reduced Rates for Quantity Orders Hardy Native Grown See CARL D.
