Salvation Army To Conduct Services At W alnut Creek Special religious services will be held at the Walnut Creek schoolhouse Sunday, March 31, conducted by Salvation Army personnel. One service will be held at 11 o'clock in the morn ing, and another at 2 in the afternoon. . A picnic dinner will be held on the grounds at noon. A feature of the services, it was said, will be the singing .and instrumental music. Major Cecil Brown, Capt. Lil lian Blackburn, Capt. Bobby Douglass, and Lt. Marguerite Morton, four young women mis sionaries from the Salvation Army's mountain mission corps at Waynesville will be in charge. Francis Grady Bur nette, formerly with the Nanta hala National forest, stationed in franklin, has been awarded the Fourth Service command certificate of commendation, and is entitled to wear the army commendation ribbon, accord ing to an announcement in At lanta. i Since 1942, Col. Burnette has been serving as chief of the of : ficers' branch of the military personnel division at Fourth Service command headquarters. The certificate was awarded for ?exceptionally meritorious serv ice", in his administrative post | in Atlanta. The qolonel, who left Frank J lin about eight or nine years ago, served in Bhe Nantahala forest headquarters for several years as an engineering drafts man. A reserve officer, he has been on active duty since 1940. Maurice Norton, of the Otto community, who entered the armed forces in January,* 1943, has received his honorable discharge from the service, and is now at his home at Otto with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed L. Norton. Cpl. Norton took his basic training in Miami, Fla., and in Texas and was with the Third Army in Europe for a year.
