4 Army Day' Is
Proclaimed By
Mayor Angel
i April 6 is Army Day.
The day is expected to be ob
served by Americans throughout
the world, and Mayor T. W
Angel. Jr.. this week issued a
proclamation designing Satur
day as Army Day in Franklin
and calling on the people of
the town to observe it "in a
fitting manner".
His proclamation follows:
"Whereas, our army has been
victorious over the forces of ag
gression and evil, and have
brought peace to our country.
"Whereas, the citizens ol
Franklin are grateful to the
men and women who fought,
worked, suffered and even gave
their lives that the victory
might be ours.
"Whereas, it is entirely fit
ting that we dedicate one day
to the Army who stand, and
have always stood, in the strong
defense of our country.
"And whereas, April 6 has
been celebrated as Army Day ? I
do proclaim it as such for
Franklin, and direct that Army ,
Day be celebrated in a fitting \
manner."
