McGuire has an nounced the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Elizabeth, to Marshall H. Pierson, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Poughkeepsie, N. Y. Miss McGuire, the youngest daughter of Mrs. McGuire and the late Mr. McGuire, of Frank lin, is a graduate of the Frank lin High school and of the Woman's college of the Univer sity of North Carolina, where she majored in business admin istration. She now has a posi tion in Jacksonville. Mr. Pierson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pierson, of Jack sonville, was born and reared in Poughkeepsie, and was grad ? uated from the music depart ment of Union Theological sem inary with the degree of M.S.M. He also has a B.S. from Colum bia university. He is director of music at the Riverside Presby terian church In Jacksonville and conductor of the Jackson ville civic male chorus. The wedding plans will be an nounced later. Personal Mention Wilson Donaldson, who receiv ed serious spinal Injuries dur ing his 18 months in services in the South Pacific, and who was returned to the States in December, is now recuperating at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Donaldson, at Prentiss. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kelly, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, have been visiting Mr. Kelly's aunt, Mrs. J. B. Stalcup, and cousin, Mrs. Hyldah Shepherd, at their home on Iotla street. Mrs. C. C. Cunningham, who was a patient for several days at St. Joseph's hospital, Ashe ville, has returned to her home in Franklin. Matlock, of the West's Mill community, who was brought to the Angel hospital last week in a serious condition, remained about the same Wednesday. Miss Pearl Wright, of High lands, is under treatment at the Angel hospital. Fred Houk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Houk, who is in the navy, stationed at Great Lakes, 111., arrived in Franklin Sunday and was admitted to the Angel hospital as a patient on Mon day. Little Miss Vian Keener, daughter ol Mr. and Mrs. Wen dell Kenner, who underwent an operation for the removal of a ruptured appendix at the Angel hospital last week, is reported to be getting along nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Manson L. Stiles Sunday visited their brother-in law, Alex Southards, who under went an operation for the re moval of his appendix at the C. J. Harris hospital, Sylva, Fri day. f W. T.
