MRS. ELOISE FRANKS WEDS FRANK H. POTTS Announcements have been re ceived here of the marriage of Mrs. Ek>ise G. Franks, of Frank Un, to Frank Huffman Potts, of iighlands, In a wedding cere tony solemnized April 3, at amassee, S. C. Mrs. Potts, former teacher in the Franklin high school, has for the past few years been Macon County superintendent of public welfare. Mr. Potts, Highlands business man, is connected with the Potts store there, and is a for mer member of the Macon county board of commissioners. Following a wedding trip to points in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Potts will be at home to their friends, after April 12, in High lands. GEORGIA GIRL WEDS HARLEY C. SANDERS Miss Lida Mae York, of Mad ison, Ga., and Harley C. San ders, of Prentiss, were married in Madison Saturday evening, April 6, at 8 o'clock, at the Methodist parsonage of the Rev. D. P. Johnston, pastor, officiating. The bride was attired in a blue costume, with which she wore black accessories. She re ceived her education at the Madison High school. Mr. Sanders, who attended the Maple Springs school, has been employed in the timber business and farming since his return from Australia, where he spent nine months in the armed forces. Mr. and Mrs. Sanders are making their home at present with the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sanders, in the Prentiss community. MISS ANNA SUE HAMMOND WEDS DEAN H. CARPENTER Miss Anna Sue Hammond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Edward Hammond, of Hickory, became the bride of Dean H. Carpenter, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Carpenter, of Franklin, in a wedding ceremony solemnized at the home of the bride's par ents in Hickory Sunday after noon, March 24, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. R. K Benfield offi ciated, using the ring ceremony. The vows were spoken in the living room before an impro vised altar of greenery and ferns, and floor baskets of white gladioli, daisies, carna tions, pink snapdragons and Southern smllax, interspersed with candelabra holding light ed white tapers. Martin Hammond, brother of the bride, lighted the tapers, : and Mrs. Martin Hammond di rected the guests to the bride's book. Mrs. Vena Little Goode, or ganist, played "Poeme", "The Old Refrain" and 'Clair de Lune" during the taking of the vows, and the traditional wed ding marches were used for the processional and the recessional. The bride wore a blue wool suit with black patent acces sories. Her corsage was a pur ple-throated orchid. Mrs. James D. Elliott served as matron of honor and the bride's only attendant, while James D. Elliott acted as best man to the bridegroom. Mrs. Carpenter is a graduate of the Claremont High school and attended Appalachian State Teachers college at Boone and Bob Jones college, Cleveland, Tenn., where she was a member of Chi Sigma Phi. Sloan. Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Callahan, of Spindale, spent the first of the week here with their son, T. F. Callahan, and Mrs. Calla han at their home In the Or lando Apartments on Harrison avenue. Mrs. J. E. Trushel and small daughter, Nancy, of Akron, Ohio, were the week-end guests of Mrs. J. B. Stalcup and daughter, Mrs. Hyldah Shep herd, at their home on Iotla street. Doyle W. DeHart, who has been in the navy for about five years, is here for a visit with his mother, Mrs, E. B. DeHart. at their home on White Oak street. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vaughan and young daughter spent Sunday with relatives and friends in Maryville, Tenn. Mrs. Verna Saintsing, of Thomasville, and Mrs. Hattie Shoaf, of Winston-Salem, have been spending a week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Clingman Childers at their home in the Oak Grove com munity. J. A. Conley is spending sev eral days in Elberton, Ga., with his granddaughter, Mrs. John A. Wall, and Mr. Wall. Mrs. Ray Swanson, of New port News, Va., is spending sev eral days visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Welch, at their home on Iotla street. Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. Fer guson have returned to their home in Winston-Salem, after spending several days visiting Mrs. Ferguson's sister, Mrs. Frank L. Henry, and Mr. Henry at their home on Riverview street. Mrs. J. S. Conley has return ed from Lakewood, Ohio, where she has been for a visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. G. Merritt Pres ton. Mrs. Charles Hendrix, of Jacksonville, Fla., is spending several weeks with her son-in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Lyle, Jr., at Trimont inn. Mr. and Mrs. Verlin McCoy Mr. Carpenter is a graduate of the Franklin High school: He served three years with a bomber squadron in the Eighth Air Force, and has 35 missions to his credit. He holds the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, and Presidential unit citation. Following a short wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter will reside in Hickory, where Mr. Carpenter is manager of the Carolina Soda shop.
