At Snow Hill
Funeral services for Mrs
Lily Belle Mason Matlock, wid- '
ow of J. Bowman Matlock, who
died Wednesday of last week,
were held at the Snow Hill
Methodist church Friday morn
ing at 10:30 o'clock. The. Rev.
D P. Grant, pastor, officiated,
assisted by the Rev. W. Jackson
Huneycutt, pastor of the Frank
lin Methodist church, and the
Rev. C. C. Welch, pastor of the
Cowee Baptist church. Inter
ment followed in the church
cemetery.

a scarcity? he noted a gaping
kuol-hole, so he started search
ing for the knot. He went to the i
lumber yard and after a pro
longed hunt he found the knot.
Then he finished his job of
glueing it in place, looked it
over, and said, "Not bad.'f
CHARLES M. STILES GIVEN
HIS DISCHARGE FROM NAVY
Charles M. Stiles, son of
Frank Stiles, of Franklin, Route
2, recently was discharged from
the navy, an announcement
from San Pedro, Calif., says. He
entered the service in November,
1943, and is entitled to wear the
Asiatic-Pacific, American, Euro
pean-Middle East, and Philip
pine liberation ribbons and the
Victory medal. Aged 20. he had
a total of 19 months' overseas
service.

Matlock was born cui December
4, 1875, a daughter of the late
Jacob Mason and Nancy Beasley
Mason. On September 27, 1894
she was married to J. Bowman
Matlock, who died May 20M945.
She was a member of the
Siiqw Hill Methodist church and
of the Woman's Society of
Christian Service.
Bryant Funeral home was in
charge of arrangements.

who have been spending the
winter in Tampa, Fla., recently
spent two weeks visiting Mr.
Parrish's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
E. H. Parrish, at their home.
