in Franklin recently. He has
just returned from an extended
tour of duty in the European
and Pacific theaters.
Capt. Lever was awarded the
Army Commendation ribbon,
and the unit which he com
manded was awarded a unit
citation.

Death Claims
Mrs. J. Crisp
At Age Of 95
Mrs. Julia Ann Crisp, 95. died
at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Robert L. Aliman, in the
Windy Gap section, two miles
north of Franklin, Thursday
of last week. She was appar
ently as well as usual when
she retired on Wednesday eve
ning, although she had been
a semi-invalid for the past 15
years.
Funeral services were held
on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock
at the Sugarfork Baptist church.
The Rev. William L. Sorrells,
pastor, officiated, assisted by
the Rev. John A. Baty, of High
lands. Interment followed in
the church cemetery.
Mrs. Crisp, a life-long resident
of Macon county, was married
to Joab Crisp, who died 21
years ago.
The pallbearers, all grandsons,
were Wilbiirn McDowell, Fred
Crisp, Marvin McDowell, Fur
man Crisp, James L. Teems and
J. L. Crisp.
Surviving are four daughters.
Mrs. Allman, with whom she
lived, Mi's. Jim Teems, and Mrs.
Cora McDowell, of Culla&aja,
and Mrs. Bill West, of Sylva;
one son, Iva Crisp, of Frank
lin; 36 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
Bryant funeral was in charge
of the arrangements.
4 Macon Men
Given Their Discharges
From Navy
Announcements have been re
ceived here of the discharge of
four Macon County men from
the navy.
Lewis F. Hylton, of Franklin,
Route 3, was discharged through
the separation center at Jack
sonville, Fla., but no details
about his service were given.
Herman R. Sedford, seaman
first class, son of D. A. Sedford,
of Franklin, Route 3, spent 19
months of his. two years in serv
ice overseas, and is entitled to
wear the Pacific, American
theater, and Victory ribbons.
David H. Talley, seaman sec
ond class, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. J. Talley, of Highlands,
has been discharged after 35
months' service.
The fourth man discharged is
Fred E. Guest, shipfitter third
class, of Franklin, whose father,
Fred C. Guest, now lives in
Baltimore. He served 15 months
overseas and is entitled to wear
the Pacific theatre ribbon.
