John S. -Gibson s Descendants Plan Reunion On June 9 Descendants of John Stewart Gibson will hold their annual ! reunion ati the home of Mr. and ' Mrs. J. V. King at Luada, near Bryson City, Sunday, June 9. it has been announced by Mrs. Frank I. Murray, secretary. Members of the older genera i tion of this pioneer family now living are Mr. Gibson's two daughters, Mrs. Fannie Dillard, Demorest, Ga., and Mrs. Nancy Cardon, of Leatherman, Macon county; they are the youngest j members of the family of 15 children. A picnic dinner will be served, on the lawn at noon. The sec retary will report the number of births, deaths and marriages that have occurred in the fam ily since the last reunion. | Macon Youth Wins 4 Fights In Army Boxing Tournament Pfc. Roy P. Crisp, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Crisp, of Frank liQ, Route 4, recently won four out " of five fights in an army boxing tournament at Fort Dix, N. J., and appeared to be on his way to becoming the light heavyweight champion of the post when he fractured his wrist.' Of his first four fights in the tournament, his parents learn ed, he won three by knockout and one by decision. Breaking his wrist in the fifth, he lost the fight by decision, and had to withdraw from the tourna ment on account of the injury. Kenneth Bryant, Long In Hospital, Discharged Kenneth Bryant, quartermast er 2/c, who has been in a navy hospital in Corona, Calif., for the past six months, undergo ing treatment for serious in juries sustained on V-J day, has received his honorable dis charge and returned to his home on Harrison avenue Sun day. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Bryant, he en tered the services in April, 1943, and spent most of that time in the Pacific. He now plans to help operate the Bryant Furn iture. store and Funeral home, which his father founded. Frank I. Murray, Jr., Gets Navy Promotion v Frank Isaac Murray, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank I. Mur ray, of Franklin, has been pro moted to aviation machinist's mate third class. Young Murrar who entered the navy in March, 1945, is now stationed at Camp Shelton, Norfolk, Va., with the naval personnel separation cen ter.
